Job Description:
McCabes Wine & Spirits, a well-established and fast-paced shop on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is seeking Seasonal Sales Associates to join our team for the upcoming holiday season. This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals with a passion for wine & spirits to work in a dynamic retail environment and deepen their industry experience.
Job Responsibilities May Include:
- Provide thoughtful and knowledgeable wine & spirits recommendations to guests, both on the sales floor and through phone, email, and online inquiries.
- Engage with guests at all levels — from everyday selections to premium, collectible, and gift-worthy bottles.
- Assist with corporate and large-format orders, including preparing quotes and packaging.
- Participate in tastings with colleagues and distributors to learn about new products and communicate those insights to customers.
- Support merchandising by receiving, pricing, stocking, and maintaining inventory across categories.
- Maintain a clean, professional, and welcoming store environment.
- Accurately handle transactions and operate the POS system.
Who You Are:
- Previous experience in wine & spirits retail, restaurants, or hospitality preferred.
- Strong product knowledge in wine and/or spirits; WSET, CMS, or equivalent certification is a plus.
- Enthusiastic about sharing product stories, food pairings, and recommendations with customers.
- A clear, confident communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Able to multi-task and stay organized in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Team-oriented, dependable, and motivated by delivering excellent guest service.
Work Schedule & Physical Requirements:
- Flexible availability — mornings, nights, weekends and holidays required.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time and climb stairs.
- Frequently bend, lift, and carry boxes up to 50 lbs.
- Seasonal role may be full-time during the peak holiday period, with overtime as needed.
