The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. The California Account Development Specialist is responsible for new business development activity: distribution and sales velocity within an assigned account universe that The Duckhorn Portfolio does not currently do business with. The successful Account Development Specialist is challenged to meet or exceed assigned sales goals. The position requires the ability to identify the underserved accounts in working with the Account Development Manager and VP of the West and rapidly expand distribution. This position must uphold the integrity of the company by following its guidelines and meeting its expectations, goals, and mission.
What we will ask you to do:
• Works directly with Sales leadership to target and execute against The Duckhorn Portfolio’s underserved universe within the luxury wine segment.
• Engages directly with key stakeholders in on and off-premise accounts to maximize exposure of The Duckhorn Portfolio wines with expected time split 80% on premise and 20% off premise.
• Ensures Duckhorn wines are prominently featured on wine lists in restaurants and displayed in high-traffic areas of retail stores.
• Performs sales support functions to include the use of current point of sale marketing materials.
• Demonstrates confidence and historical track record of successful presentations of luxury wines.
• Builds and develops the trust and confidence of the customer (sommelier, wine steward, and other store employees) through knowledge of Duckhorn’s products and procedures.
• Participates in Duckhorn’s training/orientation designed to increase and improve understanding of industry trends, develop product knowledge, and form sales skills in collaboration with the Account Development Manager.
• Performs other work-related duties and special projects as assigned.
What you will need:
• Associate degree and/or equivalent related experience such as:
o On/Off premise sale representative; and/or
o Wine industry knowledge to include basic understanding of wine sales, wine varietals, wine regions and leading categories.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Strong math and computer skills.
• Strong presentation and administrative skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to travel within the territory 100% of the time.
• Must possess a dependable vehicle, valid driver's license, proof of state car registration, insurance, and a clean driving record required.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
