POSITION SUMMARY:
This position will operate and maintain irrigation pumps, valves, and related irrigation/fertilization equipment in the vineyards. Includes repair and maintenance of the irrigation system, drip and sprinkler system operation, fertilizer injection.
ESSENTIALS FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:
• Operate electric and fuel driven pumps, valves, filters, and all other associated irrigation and fertilization equipment.
• Carry out work assigned by the Vineyard Manager and Vineyard Supervisor.
• Thorough knowledge of irrigation applications, irrigation sets and pressures, filter operation, calculating fertilizer usage, reporting of all applications.
• Responsible for weed control of the reservoirs, pump stations, and well areas.
• Must be able to operate OHV or ATV to perform work functions.
• Must be able to understand and follow directions and work alone most of the time.
• Perform basic maintenance of equipment, as well as troubleshoot and report problems.
• Keep all equipment clean and in good working order.
• Follow all Company safety rules and regulations.
• Report all injuries and mechanical problems to supervisor immediately.
• Fill out daily work orders when spraying with herbicides and fertilizers.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• This position requires 1-2 years of vineyard irrigation experience preferred or strong willingness and/or desire to learn is acceptable.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends
• a valid California driver's license.
• This position requires good written and oral communication skills along with the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance manuals.
• Must be able to lift and carry 50lbs, walk and drive on uneven ground
• Must be reliable and possess a good work ethic
WAGE TRANSPARENCY: The base pay for this role ranges from $16.16 - $21.42 per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
