The Duckhorn Portfolio is North America’s premier luxury wine company. We were established in 1976 by Dan and Margaret Duckhorn. Today, our portfolio features some of North America’s most revered wineries, including Decoy, Paraduxx, Goldeneye, Migration, Canvasback, Calera, Kosta Browne, Greenwing and Postmark.
The Harvest Enologist will provide support with accurate data entry, lead inoculations and fermentation additions as well as daily administrative tasks. This role will be located full-time at our Waterfowl Winery in Hopland. The position requires an understanding of winemaking to ensure the highest quality standards are always upheld. Additionally, the position requires a focused attention to detail, a passion for organization, and a proactive desire to help wherever needed.
What we will ask you to do:
Accurate and timely data entry of all cellar work orders into Microsoft Navision (NAV).
Manages and coordinates harvest lunches.
Update cellar tank map, and check tank placards for accuracy.
Perform additions, inoculations and pump overs.
Assist the laboratory and cellar in taking Brix and temperatures on active ferments with use of DMA.
Support the cellar by performing topping, grape sorting and other tasks as needed.
Support the laboratory by pulling samples as needed.
Maintain various wine inventories, including full barrel inventory and tank inventory.
Maintain raw material physical inventory and records in NAV.
Aid in bottling planning after harvest (packaging, shipments, and trucking schedules).
Maintain and organize production records, including safety, bottling, and winemaking documentation.
Manage incoming and outgoing mail, including USPS and packages, as well as distribution of incoming items to appropriate recipients.
Perform general clerical duties, including filing, photocopying, and faxing, as well as occasional errands, including trips to the grocery store or post office.
What you will need:
Bachelor’s degree, college-level coursework in Enology, Viticulture, or related field a plus
Previous experience in winery production.
Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
NAV experience a plus
Good written and verbal communication skills.
