Head Winemaker

Job Description:

We are an independently owned and operated, highly regarded winery located in the heart of the Santa Lucia Highlands. With a reputation for crafting exceptional, highly rated Chardonnay from the Santa Lucia Highlands and Sonoma Coast AVAs, we are seeking a skilled and committed individual to lead our winemaking operations.
Position Overview:
We are looking for a Head Winemaker to oversee all aspects of production with a hands-on approach and a focus on quality. The successful candidate will have experience producing premium Chardonnay and managing a small, efficient cellar crew. While no bottling line experience is required, strong production knowledge and attention to detail are essential.
Key Responsibilities:
•  Lead all aspects of winemaking from harvest through barrel aging
•  Maintain and enhance the quality and style of our Chardonnay-focused portfolio
•  Supervise a small, skilled cellar team with day-to-day oversight
•  Coordinate closely with vineyard operations; moderate vineyard knowledge expected
•  Represent the winery as needed with trade or consumers
•  Uphold confidentiality and demonstrate strong communication and team-building skills
•  Commit to long hours during harvest and other critical production periods
Qualifications:
•  Minimum 5 years of winemaking experience (degree in enology not required)
•  Demonstrated success in producing premium Chardonnay
•  Partial bilingual fluency in English and Spanish strongly preferred
•  Strong organizational and leadership abilities
•  Creativity, confidentiality, and a long-term commitment to growth within the company
•  Must be serious, amiable, and dependable
