Senior Human Resources Generalist

Job Description:

The Senior Human Resources Generalist at Castello di Amorosa Winery plays a key role in managing and executing daily HR operations while supporting broader business functions across the organization. This role is both strategic and hands-on, overseeing compliance, employee engagement, operational logistics, and administrative processes. The position interfaces regularly with executives, employees, third-party vendors, legal counsel, and external agencies.

Core Human Resources Responsibilities:

•  Recruitment & Onboarding: Manages full-cycle recruitment including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and offer letters. Conducts comprehensive onboarding and orientation sessions for new hires, ensuring all legal documentation and systems setup are complete.
•  HRIS & Payroll Systems: Oversees setup and administration of Paylocity (payroll) and TimeIPS (timekeeping), including user access/security, salary changes, benefit deductions, wage garnishments, and payroll data reporting.
•  Employee Relations & Compliance: Leads employee relations matters including investigations, disciplinary actions, terminations, and layoff coordination. Provides coaching to leadership and ensures compliance with California labor laws and internal policies.
•  Performance & Benefits Administration: Coordinates performance review processes. Manages benefits programs including medical, dental, vision, and 401k, including open enrollment, EASE benefits portal, and COBRA administration. Handles FMLA, workers’ comp, OSHA reporting, and state disability claims.
•  Training & Development: Administers compliance training (harassment, safety, alcohol service, etc.) via platforms like KPA and Canity. Supports customer service and leadership training efforts.
•  International Workforce Management: Manages international intern program logistics, visa processing (H1-B, H2-A, O-1, J-1), tax compliance, housing arrangements, and transportation.
•  Legal & Documentation: Responds to unemployment claims, subpoenas, wage verifications, and maintains employee records (active and inactive), handbook updates, and labor law postings.

Operational & Administrative Support:
•  Cross-Departmental Supply & Logistics: Orders supplies for all departments, including janitorial inventory, Refresh water, and supports quarterly wine club shipment staff meals.
•  Facilities & Intern Housing: Handles lease agreements, rent deposits/refunds, maintenance, and property oversight for four intern houses.
•  Finance Support: Reconciles American Express accounts and coordinates state-mandated commuter program registration.
•  Project Management: Leads and supports process improvement projects including HR system enhancements, automation of benefits enrollment, and 401k contribution integration.
•  Executive Support & Mentoring: Provides data and reporting to executives and mentors payroll/AP staff to ensure accurate HR/payroll operations.
