The Manager of Inventory & Cost Accounting is responsible for inventory, analysis and internal controls. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining standard costs for inventory valuation, tracking variances from standard cost, and ensuring accurate and timely finished goods inventory records. This position works closely with internal Finance and Production Departments, and external warehousing staff.
This role is hybrid, located in Santa Rosa, CA.
What we will ask you to do:
• Perform monthly Inventory close procedures, including journal entries, and reconciliation of Inventory subledger and reserve accounts.
• Coordinate physical inventory counts and cycle counts with internal staff and external auditors.
• Conduct monthly & quarterly fluctuation analysis of Balance Sheet & Income Statement accounts.
• Responsible for inventory control function that manages multiple locations.
• Work with external auditors for all inventory related cost accounting and valuation analysis.
• Assist with budgeting, planning and analysis associated with wine inventory and bottling costs.
• Maintains and updates the standard cost system including new product costing and set up, bulk wine costing, cased goods costing, non-wine merchandise costing.
• Analyze, report and forecast production variances and prepare associated journal entries.
• Accumulate and apply overhead costs as required by generally accepted accounting principles.
• Prepare quarterly E&O inventory reserve and ensure inventory is recorded at lower of cost or net realizable value.
• Supervise posting of inventory transfers and ensure accuracy in the system.
• Assist with internal control evaluation and change implementation.
• Supervise Inventory and Costing team members (2) responsible for inventory transfers, accounting accruals and adjustments.
• Establish and publish management reports and measures.
• Investigate inventory count discrepancies and facilitate all necessary corrective action (system, people and/or process).
• Assist in ad-hoc projects.
What you will need:
• Minimum BA in Accounting or Finance.
• Must have at least 5 years Management experience.
• Must have at least 5 years Cost Accounting experience.
• Must be able to work with little direct supervision of accounting matters and must know how to set priorities to meet deadlines.
• Must be accurate, detail oriented and possess neat work habits.
• Must have initiative, enthusiasm and self-motivation.
• Must be flexible with new ideas.
