Job Description:

At Millbrook Winery our focus is on our Estate grown fruit from our 35 acre vineyard here in the Hudson River Valley as well as from fruit from different vineyards in Long Island and the Finger Lakes. Millbrook Vineyards was established by John Dyson in the 1980s and we will be celebrating our 40th vintage this year. John Dyson is a part owner of Williams Seylem winery in California and also owns a winery in Italy named Villa Pillo. Our wine production consists of premium New York State Cabernet Franc, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Riesling, Gamay Noir, Tocai Friulano, and a few hybrids. The winemaking team consists of the Winemaker and the Assistant so there is ample opportunity to learn and put your winemaking knowledge to work. Some experience in production is helpful but not required.

As the Cellar Master/Assistant Winemaker your responsibilities include:

•  Assist in all aspects of winemaking from harvest through bottling
•  Perform cellar operations including racking, barreling down, topping, sanitation, pressing, sorting, punch downs, pump overs, additions, etc.
•  Maintain and clean barrels and equipment
•  Maintain a clean and organized winery
•  Run bottling line and manage additional help
•  Vineyard work including suckering, shoot positioning, wire adjustments, sampling, and vineyard scouting
•  Assist Winemaker in all aspects of production from harvest to blending to bottling
•  Maintenance of winery equipment, including servicing equipment as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
•  1 years of winery or cellar experience would be great but not required for the right candidate
•  Strong work ethic and attention to detail
•  Strong ability to collaborate with and lead others.
•  Ability to perform physically strenuous tasks including lifting 50+ lbs and work long hours on your feet or kneeling, especially during harvest
•  Able to work at various heights, specifically on ladders.
•  Forklift certification is a plus but not required
•  Enthusiastic about fine wine
•  A passion for wines from the Northeast
•  During harvest we work 7 days a week from 10-14 hours a day and harvest lasts about 6 weeks during September and October. Its is physical but we have a good time.
•  Small team so there is opportunity to do just about everything in a winery environment
•  Must be 18+ years old, have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
