Job Description:

Position Overview

Start Date: To be confirmed, but anticipating a part-time start in July
End Date: To be confirmed, but anticipating mid-November
Location: Based at the Finger Lakes location, with potential travel to our Rochester location and other off-site locations as needed
Pay: $17–19/hour, depending on experience

Roles & Responsibilities

Cellar & Harvest Operations
—Assist with day-to-day cellar operations as assigned by the Head Winemaker or Winemaker, including but not limited to: rackings, sampling and analysis, fermentation management, barrel work, etc.
—If forklift certified, operate the forklift safely and according to company policy
—Help process all incoming fruit (recording weights, hand-sorting, crushing/destemming, pressing, etc.)
—Clean and maintain all winery equipment (press, pumps, crusher, etc.)

Winery Maintenance & Organization
—Help maintain the general cleanliness, sanitation, and safety of the winery
—Report all low inventories of production and winery supplies to the Winemaker

Documentation & Compliance
—Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, compliance regulations, liquor laws, inspections, and audits
—Fill out job notes for cellar tasks and report to the Associate Winemaker to maintain up-to-date winemaking records

Flexibility & Collaboration
—Communicate clearly and effectively with the winemaking team
—Collaborate with team members and owners to ensure a cohesive and positive work environment
—Help out in other areas as needed/as winery work allows



Qualifications
—Previous experience in a cellar hand or harvest intern role within the wine industry
—Ability to lift 50 lbs. and work on your feet for extended periods of time
—Ability to work long hours while maintaining a positive attitude
—Ability to work independently with some supervision
—Reliable transportation
—Strong communication and interpersonal skills
—Ability to multitask, problem-solve, and manage time effectively
—Experience with and/or certification to operate a forklift
—Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
