Job Description:

Maxville Winery is looking for interns to join our 2025 harvest in the beautiful Chiles Valley District of Napa Valley. The internships will begin in August/September and end in late November. Interns will be expected to assist in all aspects of wine production. The ideal candidate is motivated, reliable, team-minded, friendly and detail-oriented.
Previous experience is required, and you must be eligible to work in the United States. People outside of the US working with CAEP are welcome as well! Please note: to qualify for a J-1 visa via CAEP, candidates must have either a degree in a related field or a minimum of five years of relevant experience.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
•  Clean and sanitize winery equipment including tanks, hoses, and presses according to established protocols
•  Maintain an organized, clean, and safe cellar workspace
•  Assist with wine movements such as racking, transfers, and labeling of barrels and tanks
•  Perform barrel work: filling and topping
•  Safely and efficiently operate pumps and other cellar equipment
•  Participate in grape processing: receiving, sorting, crushing, and pressing
•  Carry out fermentation management tasks like pump-overs and punch-downs
•  Move barrels and equipment safely using proper handling techniques
•  Follow all winery safety protocols, including confined space and hazard communication procedures
•  Support general production and maintenance tasks as needed
•  Support lab activities such as brix check, sampling, additions etc.

Ideal Candidate Profile:
•  Background or current study in Viticulture and Enology or a related field preferred
•  Effective verbal and written communication in English
•  Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely
•  Good math skills and basic comfort with measurements and conversions
•  Proactive, hardworking, and adaptable to fast-changing harvest needs
•  Positive team player with a professional attitude
•  Dependable and punctual
•  Willingness to work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed

Physical Requirements:
•  Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
•  Comfortable walking on uneven or slippery surfaces
•  Able to climb ladders and work on catwalks
•  Physically capable of repetitive tasks including bending, squatting, twisting, and standing for long periods, often in hot, cold, or wet conditions
