Location: Precision Office, Napa, CA

Position Summary: The Procurement Manager plays a critical, cross-functional role within the winery, working closely with the winemaking team, orders team, and the Director of Operations to manage all aspects of dry goods procurement. This position requires a strong partnership with internal and external stakeholders to ensure materials such as glass, corks, labels, capsules, and shippers are sourced and delivered on time to meet dynamic production demands.

This role involves the direct management of a small team and active participation in weekly bottling scheduling meetings, serving as a key contributor in aligning production timelines with supply chain realities. The Procurement Manager must be agile and nimble, capable of adjusting plans quickly in response to customer needs, production shifts, or supplier constraints, and must work with bottlers to realign schedules as required.

As the subject matter expert for packaging procurement, this individual is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies, negotiating costs, optimizing value, maintaining vendor relationships, and identifying new opportunities to support company objectives. The role demands a high degree of independence, sound judgment, and collaboration across departments to support initiatives in new product development, cost control, inventory management, sales, and bottling operations.

The Procurement Manager is expected to make strategic, data-driven decisions based on customer needs, supplier capabilities, and internal forecasts. This role is pivotal in ensuring operational excellence, cost efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

•  Manage and support a highly dynamic master bottling calendar, ensuring flexibility to accommodate shifting customer needs and operational priorities. Regularly lead or contribute to weekly bottling meetings, oversee schedule adjustments, and maintain alignment across winemaking, operations, and orders teams.
•  Communicate consistently and effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and bottling partners to coordinate materials, resolve conflicts, and meet evolving production and bottling timelines.
•  Prioritize and manage multiple procurement workflows, ensuring timely execution and agile response to rapidly changing demands across production and customer orders.
•  Oversee end-to-end procurement planning, order execution, and delivery logistics, proactively adapting to schedule changes and ensuring continuity of supply to support production goals.
•  Develop and implement streamlined processes and operational tools that reduce manual tracking, centralize data, and increase visibility into procurement activities for management and stakeholders.
•  Monitor and maintain optimal inventory levels, using forecasting and collaboration with cross-functional teams to balance supply and demand while avoiding excess stock or shortages.
•  Collaborate with sales, marketing, and winemaking on new product initiatives and packaging changes, ensuring procurement activities align with development and launch timelines.
•  Maintain and manage up-to-date product specifications across all brands and formats, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and consistency across teams.
•  Build and sustain strong supplier relationships, conducting performance reviews and leading cost, quality, and delivery negotiations to ensure reliable, value-driven partnerships.
•  Identify, qualify, and evaluate new and existing suppliers based on performance, risk, cost efficiency, and capability to support company growth and strategic objectives.
•  Analyze market conditions, packaging trends, and pricing, sharing timely insights with internal teams to support planning and strategic decision-making.
•  Investigate and resolve non-conforming material issues, coordinating with vendors on credits, replacements, or adjustments to protect production integrity.
•  Continuously refine procurement practices, applying industry best practices to improve efficiency, scalability, and cost-effectiveness.
•  Develop raw material and packaging standards, and maintain supply risk mitigation and continuity plans to ensure operational resilience.
•  Manage procurement budgets and spend tracking, aligning purchasing activity with financial goals and providing regular reporting to leadership.

Training & Management Responsibilities
•  Supervise procurement and logistics assistant(s).
•  Oversee job training and development for the procurement and logistics assistant(s), as directed by the Dir. Of Operations.
•  Manage time and attendance for all direct reports within Paycor.

Additional Functions:

•  Comply with all company safety policies, practices, and procedures. Participate in safety training and report all unsafe conditions or work practices.
•  Participate in team efforts and perform additional duties as needed.

Necessary Skills:

Language: Ability to speak and understand basic English required for all positions.
•  Ability to read and interpret documents such as memos, instructions, policies, and manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to present information effectively to groups of customers and/or employees and participate in one-on-one and small group situations.

Math: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately, using standard American units of currency, weight, volume, and/or distance. Ability to recognize and correct inaccuracies when using a calculator or computer spreadsheet. Ability to calculate items such as discounts, commissions, simple interest, and percentages.

Logic: Ability to apply common sense understanding to multiple tasks, analyze and solve practical problems, prioritize and delegate tasks and projects, work both independently and as part of a team, and adapt to frequent changes in the work environment.
