JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a hands-on Winemaker who will lead production across our estate portfolio, including both still and traditional method sparkling wines. This is not a “sit-behind-the-desk” position — we’re looking for someone who loves getting into the vineyard, the lab, and the cellar.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Produce estate wines from Cabernet Franc, Chardonnay, Blaufränkisch, Grüner Veltliner, Vidal Blanc, Chambourcin, Vignoles and others varieties
- Lead our HV Vineyards Sparkling Program, including the Right Bank (New York) and Left Bank (Oregon) collections, in collaboration with our sparkling wine consultant and sparkling wine service provider
- Oversee cellar operations: harvest prep, fermentation management, lab work, racking, topping, bottling, data entry (Vintrace), and compliance (TTB)
- Collaborate with vineyard team across 18 acres and work closely with the General Manager (a trained viticulturist and international vineyard consultant)
- Source and manage seasonal labor as needed
- Conduct bottling with our GAI bottling line
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in winemaking (cool-climate or hybrid grape experience preferred)
- Experience with traditional method sparkling wine a major plus
- Strong hands-on approach and physical cellar skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Familiarity with Vintrace and regulatory reporting
- Team player ready to innovate and elevate
