Position Overview
We are seeking a knowledgeable and personable Wine Educator to join our team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about wine, enjoys engaging with guests, and thrives in a hospitality-focused environment. The ideal candidate will be dedicated to providing an exceptional tasting experience, educating guests about our wines, and fostering meaningful connections with our visitors. This position reports directly to the Team Leads, who in turn report to the Marketing & Hospitality Manager.
Key Responsibilities
-Guest Experience & Education: Guide guests through curated tasting experiences, providing insightful information about our wines, vineyard practices, and winemaking techniques. Personalize tastings for individuals and groups.
-Wine Sales & Club Memberships: Actively promote wine sales and club memberships by understanding guest preferences and offering tailored recommendations. Meet monthly sales goals while providing a high-quality customer experience.
-Hospitality & Service: Ensure every guest receives warm, professional, and attentive service that enhances their overall experience. Maintain strong customer relations through a positive and strengths-based approach.
-Tasting Room Operations: Assist with daily opening and closing procedures, including setup, stocking, cleaning, and ensuring proper wine presentation. Operate POS system for sales and customer information updates. Maintain clean and functioning spaces, notifying Team Leads of any issues. Contribute to overall cleanliness of the property (e.g., picking up trash, checking bathrooms, restocking glasses, washing dishes).
-Wine Club Engagement: Sign up new members and complete handwritten thank-you notes. Build ongoing rapport with wine club members and maintain detailed communication notes. Make seasonal calls to members and help troubleshoot special requests. Notify Team Leads of any member dissatisfaction and suggest ideas for engagement.
-Events & Private Tastings: Support and help execute wine club events, private tastings, and winery-hosted experiences. Champion ticket sales for upcoming events and assist with promotional phone calls.
-Compliance & Safety: Adhere to all responsible serving guidelines, safety protocols, and winery policies.
-Other Duties: Additional projects as assigned by the Winery Operations Director, owner, Marketing & Hospitality Manager, or Team Leads.
Qualifications & Skills
-Passion for wine, with a strong interest in wine education and storytelling.
-Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and educate guests.
-Customer service or hospitality experience (winery, restaurant, or retail experience preferred).
-Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
-Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 45 lbs.
-Ability to walk at a brisk pace for at least 3 hours without interruption.
-Must be at least 21 years old and able to obtain any necessary permits or certifications for serving alcohol.
-Weekend and holiday availability required.
