Col Solare Winery is a small, iconic Washington estate owned by the Antinori Family. The 29-acre estate vineyard and winery on Red Mountain focuses on producing ultra-premium Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

We are seeking a passionate candidate to join our full-time winemaking team at Col Solare Winery in Benton City, Washington. This position will support all aspects of the wine-growing process, including work in the cellar (65%), lab (15%), vineyard (10%), and office (10%).

Pay Scale: $22-$26/hr

Job Description
Under the direction of the winemaker, the Winegrowing Technician supports the winery operations to produce ultra-premium wines. They will assist with all aspects of small winery production from scouting the vineyard, operating crush equipment during harvest, running the lab, supporting mobile bottling, and assisting the tasting room operations.

Key Responsibilities
•  Under the direction of the winemaker, support winery operations to produce high quality wines.
o Possess an understanding of winery operations that are consistent with winemaking directions
o Assist the cellar with key operations including operating harvest crush equipment, pressing, racking, blending, filtration, and fining
o Assist the harvest cellar team personnel in harvest processing and fermentation protocols including grape evaluation, sorting, cap management, chemical additions, pressing, and lots of cleaning/sanitizing
•  Manage the winery laboratory
o Conduct lab analysis year-round using basic wet chemistry and enzymatic analysis for juice, must, and wine
o Train harvest intern on harvest laboratory equipment
o Maintain accurate inventory of laboratory chemicals
o Assist with berry sampling as needed to help determine picking dates
•  Support winemaker with wine tracking utilizing Vintrace
o Send monthly TTB reports to compliance
o Help maintain winemaking spreadsheets
•  Support winemaker and vineyard manager with vineyard scouting for pests and disease
•  Provide additional support to the tasting room as needed and be willing to represent the Antinori Family and Col Solare to vendors and customers

Working Environment:
•  Must be able to lift 50 lbs
•  Must be able to move wine barrels off delivery trucks and onto barrel racks
•  Must be able to work in cold and wet conditions
•  Must be able to bend, squat, and stand for long periods
•  Must be able to climb stairs, catwalk, and ladders
•  Must be able to work in confined space

We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications:
•  Completed undergraduate degree in Enology, Chemistry, Engineering, or related field
•  Minimum of 3 harvests worked with experience in the cellar and lab at both small and large wineries
•  Must be 21 years of age
•  Must be available to work at least 60 hours per week during the peak harvest season
•  Must be able to get a forklift certification
•  High work capacity and ability to manage several projects simultaneously
•  Ability to work with all types of personalities across different work functions
•  Project and time management skills
•  Proficient with MS Office based tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
•  Ability to carry out direction both verbally and/or in written form
•  Ability to work autonomously
