SENIOR ACCOUNTANT POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the wine industry. This role is crucial for managing and overseeing financial activities of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining strong internal controls. The Senior Accountant will work closely with other departments to provide financial insights, assist in budgeting and forecasting, and ensure compliance with industry regulations and accounting standards.

THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS FOR THIS ROLE:
•  Oversee the accuracy of the general ledger (GL) and related data; collaborate with management to investigate and resolve discrepancies; monitor and address budget variances and outliers.
•  Compile and analyze financial data to prepare journal entries for general ledger accounts and document business transactions.
•  Support the Controller with financial reporting tasks and assist in the company’s budgeting process.
•  Maintain and update the winery’s Fixed Asset schedule.
•  Collaborate with the Controller during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes, reviewing data quality to ensure timely reporting and submission.
•  Assist with the preparation and scheduling of data for external financial reviews; provide auditors and parent company with timely responses and data, and review audit findings.
•  Reconcile the company's inventory on a monthly basis; extract data from inventory systems and resolve discrepancies to ensure accurate product levels.
•  Maintain the winery’s cost accounting system and reconcile with the general ledger.
•  Calculate and record bottled wine costs using costing system.
•  Safeguard the company's proprietary and confidential financial information by adhering to all security policies and procedures.
•  Manage special projects and additional tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:
•  Bachelor’s degree in Business with a focus on Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
•  At least 4 years of experience in an accounting role.
•  Strong knowledge of finance, accounting, and cost control principles, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
•  Experience working with financial, accounting, and inventory systems, with the ability to extract data to produce accurate and timely reports.
•  Familiarity with Business Central, Commerce 7, InnoVint or similar software is a plus but not required.
•  Ability to analyze financial data and generate financial reports, statements, and projections.
•  Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to professionally communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of the organization.
•  Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
•  Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
•  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
