Production Manager – Noisy Water Winery

Are you an experienced production leader with a passion for wine and a strong background in bottling line management? Noisy Water Winery is seeking a Production Manager to oversee all aspects of winery production, with a primary focus on managing, maintaining, and optimizing our bottling line operations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced production environment and is committed to quality and efficiency. The role also includes a facilities maintenance component, requiring infrastructure maintenance and repair, improvements, and pump/hose/tank repair.
- Position Overview: The Production Manager will be responsible for overseeing winery operations, including managing production staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining inventory, and most importantly, handling and maintaining the bottling line to ensure smooth and efficient bottling operations. You will work closely with the Head Winemaker to uphold quality and consistency in every bottle. A winemaking certificate/degree or two years of winemaking experience is preferred. A degree in packaging or brewing may also be considered with relevant experience.
**Key Responsibilities**
Bottling Line Management & Maintenance
- Supervise and maintain the bottling line to ensure smooth and efficient production.
- Identify and fix equipment issues quickly to minimize downtime.
- Set up a maintenance schedule to keep bottling machinery running properly.
- Train and oversee staff on bottling procedures and quality standards.
- Ensure proper sealing, labeling, and packaging of all bottled wine.
Production & Quality Control
- Oversee all steps of winemaking, including harvest, fermentation, blending, aging, and bottling.
- Perform regular quality checks to ensure wines meet company standards.
- Keep accurate records of production activities, bottling runs, and quality control tests.
- Work closely with the Head Winemaker to follow production schedules and improve workflow.
Inventory & Supply Management
- Track and manage inventory for bulk wine, bottled wine, and production materials.
- Order and restock bottling supplies like glass, corks, capsules, and labels.
- Conduct inventory audits to maintain accurate stock levels and control costs.
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure all production processes follow OSHA, TTB, and other regulatory requirements.
- Maintain strict sanitation and safety standards in the winery.
- Provide safety training and enforce best practices to prevent workplace accidents.
Process Improvement & Strategic Planning
- Evaluate production and bottling efficiency, finding ways to improve workflow and reduce waste.
- Assist in planning for future production needs, including staffing and equipment upgrades.
- Stay updated on new bottling and winemaking technologies to keep operations competitive.
What We’re Looking For
- 3+ years in winery production including bottling line management.
- Supervisory/Leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of bottling line machinery, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
- Experience in infrastructure maintenance, pump/hose/tank repair, and facility improvements.
- Problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and process improvements.
- Excellent organization and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Physical Ability – Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for long periods, and work in a production setting.
- Computer Skills – Proficiency in inventory management software and other winery-related digital tools.
- Ability to create, update, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for production and bottling operations.
- Experience maintaining accurate inventory records and ensuring compliance with tax reporting and regulatory requirements.
