Full-Time Viticulture Vineyard Manager

Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Viticulture Vineyard Manager to oversee all aspects of vineyard operations and lead the production of premium wine grapes. This is a leadership position requiring extensive knowledge of vineyard establishment, sustainable grape production, personnel management, budgeting, and precision agriculture. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining exceptional fruit quality while optimizing vineyard performance and long-term sustainability.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct and manage all daily vineyard operations across multiple vineyard blocks.
Develop and implement annual vineyard management plans, including pruning, canopy management, crop load adjustment, irrigation, nutrition, and harvest scheduling.
Monitor vine health and proactively manage pests, diseases, and weeds using Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices.
Supervise, train, and evaluate full-time and seasonal vineyard staff while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Manage vineyard equipment, fleet maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
Oversee irrigation systems and water management strategies.
Maintain accurate production records, labor reports, spray records, and regulatory compliance documentation.
Develop and manage annual operating budgets while controlling costs and maximizing vineyard efficiency.
Collaborate closely with winemaking staff to achieve targeted fruit quality and harvest objectives.
Evaluate new technologies and precision viticulture tools to improve vineyard productivity and sustainability.
Ensure compliance with all OSHA, state, and federal agricultural regulations.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Viticulture, Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, Agronomy, or a closely related field (Master's degree preferred).
Minimum of 7–10 years of progressive vineyard management experience, including leadership responsibilities.
Demonstrated expertise in premium wine grape production.
Strong understanding of vine physiology, soil science, irrigation management, fertility programs, and integrated pest management.
Experience developing and managing operational budgets.
Proven ability to recruit, supervise, and develop vineyard personnel.
Proficiency with agricultural software, GPS/GIS systems, precision agriculture technology, and Microsoft Office applications.
Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Ability to obtain and maintain pesticide applicator certification (or currently certified).
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience managing vineyards in the southeastern United States.
Knowledge of disease management in humid climates.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) communication skills.
Strong mechanical aptitude and experience managing agricultural equipment.
