Scheid Family Wines has an exciting opportunity for a Compliance Specialist to join our team at our Greenfield, CA location.

In addition to our flagship Scheid Vineyards brand, we produce and market a broad portfolio of private label and global brands, including Sunny with a Chance of Flowers, Grandeur, VDR, Metz Road, District 7, Stokes’ Ghost and Ryder Estate.

SUMMARY: The Compliance Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting the day-to-day winery operation. The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, highly organized and flexible individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Wine Tracking duties
•  Daily processing of work orders to track physical entries, movements and removals of bulk wine and juice into our proprietary software system.
•  Review transactions for errors, discrepancies, tax class/organic conflicts.
•  Enter accurate information for shipping and receiving into Scion.
•  Create and process export paperwork and track proof of exports.
•  Assist with inventory tracking, month end and yearly closing procedures.
•  Assist with audits, yearly emissions report.
•  Maintain source documents/record keeping in an orderly manner.
•  Provide support to management, winemaking, cellar, lab, and accounting departments.

Weighmaster/Scale House duties
•  Weigh trucks, maintain scale house logs, email clients, bill of ladings.
•  Calculate weights and gallon conversions.
•  Scan, sort, code and file shipping documents in computer and physical files.

Administrative duties
•  General office duties including copy, fax, scan, answer phones/emails, greet clients/guests, accept deliveries, order office supplies.
•  Create/maintain file folders and labels. Transfer files to storage at year end.
•  Copy, fax, scan, file and maintain department files, in an orderly fashion.
•  Work on special projects as assigned.
•  Other duties as assigned

Compliance duties
•  Be familiar with wine making processes including State and Federal regulations.
•  Assist in preparing Government reports including State and Federal excise tax returns.
•  Maintain electronic/hard copy files of permits, bonds, and power of attorneys.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
•  High School Diploma or equivalent
•  2+ years’ experience in administrative support, wine industry experience preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS
•  LANGUAGE - Ability to respond to basic inquiries from clients and business affiliates. Ability to read and write required correspondence that confirm to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to co-workers, affiliates, clients and the public.
•  TECHNICAL
o Experience with Microsoft Office (word, outlook, excel)
o Experience with bulk wine tracking software (WMDB, Scion) a plus
o Proficiency with 10-key for data entry
o Proficiency in math functions such as addition, subtraction, percentages and decimals
•  GENERAL
o Ability to multitask in a rapidly changing environment
o High level of attention to detail and organizational capabilities a must
o Motivated self-started with the ability to prioritize tasks and follow directions

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
•  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel objects and/or keyboard. Required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, or crouch. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 25lbs. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. This job requires use of the computer and phone.

WORK SCHEDULE
•  Typically, Monday – Friday
•  Typically, 7:00am – 4:00pm
•  Some weekends, overtime, and split schedule work may be assigned as needed
