SCRIBE Winery is located in the heart of Sonoma Valley, where we produce wines from our own 50-acre estate as well as other select sites throughout Sonoma and Napa County. We work with a wide array of varieties including Riesling, Sylvaner, Mission, Chardonnay, Pinot noir, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon, made in an equally wide array of styles including sparkling, vermouth, rose, still reds & whites, and beyond.
We are currently looking to add a new, full-time member to our production team as a Cellar Associate. The Cellar Associate plays a crucial role in the winemaking process by assisting in all aspects of cellar operations, including grape processing, fermentation management, barrel work, and wine production tasks. This person must have natural leadership, collaboration and communication skills to help train & lead our seasonal and less-skilled staff. You will work in collaboration with the rest of the full-time team to keep the cellar operating cleanly, smoothly and harmoniously the rest of the year. This will require exceptional communication skills, with an emphasis on helping coordinate logistics, plan cellar operations, teaching and correcting cellar operation work, and asking questions if ever uncertainty arises. This position also requires strong attention to detail, physical stamina, and a passion for producing high-quality wines. The Cellar Associate will work closely with the winemaking team and contribute to the creation of exceptional wines that reflect the unique characteristics of our vineyards. This is a great opportunity for anyone looking to sharpen their cellar skills and learn the rhythms of working in a full-time winemaking role.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to crush pad operation, fermentation monitoring and cap management, forklifting, press operation, barrel work, racking, blending trials, bottling, riddling, disgorging, cleaning and sanitation of the winery and equipment. There is no piece of winery equipment you won't touch, no operation you won't get to have your hands in. The ideal candidate is flexible and understands that this is a dynamic position that will evolve over time and is never the same day after day.
Required Experience and Competencies:
2+ years of consecutive experience in premium wine production
Excellent work ethic and leadership capabilities with the ability to work both autonomously and in a team
Ability to communicate with others clearly, effectively and respectfully
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft office and other applied software/technology)
Forklift experience preferred
Spanish language ability a plus
Have a valid driver’s license and a personal car to drive to and from work and around Sonoma and Napa counties
