McCabes Wine & Spirits, an established fast-paced shop on Manhattan’s Upper East Side, is searching for an experienced Wine Buyer, Content Creator and Sales Professional. The ideal candidate has a track record of meeting sales targets, is passionate and knowledgeable about our industry, is well organized and has a strong work ethic. Job Responsibilities May Include:
• Oversee product mix for multiple wine regions, including Burgundy
• Draft content for digital newsletter featuring new, allocated & on-sale products, sending minimum 2 emails weekly
• Deliver outstanding service by providing recommendations over multiple channels including working on the sales floor as well as phone, email and online sales
• Familiarity with multiple product categories in both standard and higher-end price points
• Develop and maintain relationships with new and existing guests for everyday purchasing, as well as allocated and collectible items
• Taste and assess new wines and spirits with co-workers and distributors for possible store and online placement
• Ability to multi-task is essential including drafting quotes for and completing large corporate orders
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Receive, price and restock inventory as needed
Who You Are:
• Three years’ experience (minimum) as a wine buyer
• Advanced level of wine education from WSET, CMS (or equivalent) strongly preferred
• Proven track-record of generating revenue growth
• Highly effective communicator
• High-energy, positive, friendly, and personable
• Hard-working and self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines
• Organized, efficient and detail-oriented, with strong writing skills
• Strong computer skills, including MS Office Word and Excel
• Ability to use technology applicable to the position and access information necessary to complete daily responsibilities
Physical Requirements & Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position; the store is open 7 days/week. The requirements for work may include the below:
• Work a flexible schedule including any/all nights, weekends and holidays, and to work opening, mid-day and closing shifts
• Work 40 regular hours per week, and work overtime as approved by Owner
• Available to address issues outside of work and store hours
• Ability to stand for extended periods of time and climb up/down stairs
• Frequently twist, bend, stoop, kneel, and crawl
• Lift up to 50 pounds, repeatedly
• Operate a cash register
