Job Posting: Facilities Manager

Location: BIG CORK VINEYARDS, ROHRERSVILLE, MARYLAND

About Us: BIG Cork Vineyards, Maryland’s most awarded estate winery, seeks an experienced professional to serve as Facilities Manager. In addition to the maintenance and upkeep of our large production facility and tasting room, we also have a winery guest house that provides a unique experience for our visitors and requires oversight as well. We are currently seeking a skilled and experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the upkeep of our property and ensure the smooth operation of our equipment and facilities.

Job Type: 30+ hours per week initially; progressing to full-time for the right candidate.

Reports To: Vice-President & General Manager

Responsibilities:

Property Maintenance: Manage and perform general maintenance tasks across the winery and guest house, including building repairs, scheduled maintenance tasks, installation of new equipment and upkeep of common areas.

Equipment Oversight: Ensure all winery equipment and tools are maintained in optimal working condition. Conduct regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs as needed.

Handyman Skills: Utilize your expertise in plumbing, electrical systems, and mechanical systems to address and resolve any issues that arise, responding in a timely manner to work tickets submitted by our management team.

Guest House Management: Oversee the maintenance and operational needs of the guest house, ensuring that all facilities are in excellent condition and meet guest expectations.

Vendor Coordination: Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized repairs and services. Work alongside our winemaking team and vineyard crew on external vineyard projects.

Inventory Management: Maintain an organized inventory of tools, parts, and supplies, ensuring that everything is readily available for maintenance tasks.

Safety Compliance: Ensure that all maintenance work complies with safety regulations and standards.

Qualifications:
Proven experience as a handyman or maintenance supervisor, preferably in a winery, hotel, school, church or similar setting.
Strong skills in plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
Ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs with minimal supervision.
Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Strong organizational and project management abilities.
Effective communication skills and a customer-oriented mindset.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Availability for occasional on-call emergencies.

Preferred:
Previous experience managing or overseeing the maintenance and upkeep of a large winery production facility
Familiarity with winery equipment and operations.
Certification or formal training in relevant maintenance trades.
