Job Description:

Crocker & Starr Winery in St. Helena, Napa Valley is seeking a 2024 Harvest Production Assistant to join our winemaking team with potential for a full-time position once harvest concludes. This position requires someone experienced in production, energetic, and respectful of our team environment to join our small and tight-knit winemaking team.

Over the past several decades, we have become known for creating great estate wines: Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc and Malbec. Napa Green certified vineyard and winery means that we grow using organic and regenerative guidelines and produce the wines in an environmentally safe and efficient facility.

Under direction of our hands-on Winemaker, this person will execute all aspects of production from vineyard sampling to fruit processing, fermentation management, and production tastings. Harvest is a fast paced, simultaneous multi-operational season and requires all team members to pivot with a moments notice.

The successful applicant must be flexible, ethical and perform every task with detail and precision. Our small yet mighty team wears many hats where no job is too small. Job Responsibilities:
•  Grape sampling, sample processing/analysis
•  Assembling/operating/maintaining harvest and cellar equipment
•  All harvest production operations – grape processing, fermentation management, additions, draining/pressing, barrel maintenance and filling
•  Assist with database management – experience with Innovint a plus
•  Lab analysis – brix/temp, pH, NTU, FSO2, VA
•  Facility maintenance
•  Tasting & blending with winemaking team
Successful candidates will possess the following competencies and attributes:
•  A respectful, thoughtful and dedicated self-starter who strives to be a wine professional
•  Excellent listener with strong verbal and written communication skills.
•  Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to adapt to a changing work environment
•  Strong cellar skills with a minimum of 3 harvests and/or 18 months experience as a full-time member of a premium winemaking team
•  Ability to work long hours including weekends, and the ability to lift over 50 lbs.
•  Committed to working August through end November 2024
•  Certified forklift experience a plus

Start Date: Beginning of August
End Date: December, depending on the season
