Vineyard Manager Description
The Vineyard manager will be responsible for overseeing the wine grape production and development operations in Amador County, California. This includes delivering crop yields and ensuring quality at a cost that meets planned operational budgets, sales, and profitability targets. The manager will be responsible for all aspects of wine grape production, including planning, budgeting, field preparation, planting, trellis and irrigation infrastructure, cultivation, irrigation, fertility, and harvest.
Vineyard Manager Duties
•  Land preparation for vineyard planting and grafting.
•  Test soil regularly to ensure the health of the land and grapes.
•  All grape maintenance includes pruning, removal of downed canes, suckering, bird netting and removal, spraying, training, and fertilizing.
•  Vineyard repairs such as fence maintenance, repair when necessary trellising, posts, irrigation and tightening wires.
•  Maintain a clean property and storage areas
•  Mow grass between rows of the vineyard and on the remainder of the property.
•  Tend to other property plants such as trees, flower, and olive trees.
•  Ensure vineyard health, when vines need to be replaced work with winemaker to replace sick or old vines with new healthy vines.
•  Cultivate appropriate cover crops to ensure the ground is being enriched every season.
•  Organizing harvesting team.
•  Collaborate with the winemaker to ensure grapes are grown in conformance with expectations and to authorize vineyard releases for harvest as well as making picking decision based on analysis and grape tasting and weather.
•  Repair and maintenance of equipment
•  Maintain licensing for pesticide applicator
•  Ability to stand for 8-hour shift
•  Ability to lift 50 lbs.
•  Ability to operate heavy machinery including but not limited to: Tractors, harvester, Gator/Kubota, ATV’s.
•  Ability to operate sprayer, flail mower, disker, and weedwhacker.
•  Ability to work harmoniously with coworkers
Education and Experience
•  5 years of vineyard management experience
•  English and Spanish speaking preferred
•  Pesticide applicator license
•  Valid driver’s license
•  Forklift certified
•  Must be at least 21 years of age.
Salary and Benefits
•  $60,000-70,000
•  Health insurance and dental insurance available after probation period.
