Cellar Worker, Argyle Winery and Vineyards
As Oregon’s original Sparkling Wine house, innovation and curiosity have been at the core of all we do since 1987. Those two traits are what inspired us to take a leap in 2015 and move from our quaint Spirit House, to what is now known as our Tasting House, and we haven’t looked back. Today, our winery is located a few miles down the highway in Newberg, we manage four vineyards across the Willamette Valley and welcome guests for exceptional experiences as a must visit destination in the heart of Dundee.

Under the direction of Cellar Master and winemaking team, the Cellar Hand ensures safe and efficient cellar operations and utilization of winery equipment and facilities. This role will perform all functions in our cellar such as racking, transfers, tank sanitation & barrel cleaning, grape processing, and all the other tasks that allow our cellar to function at its peak performance. This hourly full-time, non-exempt position as an on the floor support requires working weekdays with flexibility during tirage periods and harvest.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
•  Performs various work assignment with timeliness, compliance/safety and accuracy being the goals.
•  Reads and preforms cellar tasks as directed in the work order. Able to comprehend detailed work order instructions, complete the job and fill out work orders to completion.
•  Operate various pumps, winemaking equipment
•  Moves wine from tank/barrel/storage – provides management of these vessels and utilizes forklift
•  Follows safe cellar protocols while understanding winemaking goals
•  Looks for problems with equipment used or any safety issues and reports to Leader
•  Self-starter, comfortable working independently or with the team
•  Clean and/or sterilize tanks, hoses, pumps, and other related winemaking equipment
•  Accurately perform treatment to wines as directed
•  Ability to be fully available during busy seasons: tirage and harvest
•  Assist with training on all cellar operations. During harvest will help train and lead a seasonal harvest staff on all aspects of the cellar
•  Occasionally help on the bottling line if needed

We are seeking an exceptional Cellar Worker with previous cellar experience and has completed at least 1(one) harvest. The person must also have excellent verbal, written, and analytical skills including numeric understanding. Must have a valid OR driver’s license, forklift certification and/or have forklift experience. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. with or without reasonable accommodation and stand/ walk for long periods of time. Having or seeking an education in Enology or Viticulture is a plus. Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Work Authorization without current or future sponsorship.
