Assistant Viticulturist

PAY: $52,000-55,000 per year based on experience. Paid weekly.

CAPACITY: Full-time on-site at RGNY, Riverhead, NY

HOURS / DAYS: 40+ hours per week on average. Some weekends required June-October

About The Position
As an Assistant Viticulturist you will report directly to the Vineyard Manager. You will be integral to establishing, maintaining, and promoting the quality of our 93 acres planted vinifera on our 205-acre farm. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of tasks, including field scouting, crew quality control, data collection and input, pest/disease monitoring, phenology tracking, soil sampling, and timely record-keeping. Additionally, you'll play a crucial role in ensuring a safe working environment by actively participating in and managing our established safety program.
Position Responsibilities
•  Capability to operate tractor machinery proficiently or readiness and capacity to swiftly acquire the skill to operate such equipment.
•  Pest and disease monitoring
•  Phenology tracking
•  Crop estimates
•  Plant and tissue analysis
•  Assist and manage Long Island Sustainable Winegrowing certification
•  Ensure accurate work hours record keeping for the vineyard staff.
•  Assist with supervision of vineyard staff
•  Assist with nutrient application plan and a spray program.
•  Assist with Vineyard Safety Program. Help ensure that safety compliance requirements are met.
•  Attend team meetings, educational seminars and training sessions, keeping records and minutes of these meetings.
•  Willing to work occasional weekends as needed in June-October.

Qualifications
•  At least one year viticulture or agriculture experience.
•  Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
•  Bi-lingual in Spanish and English is a plus, but not required.
•  Moderate (or higher) proficiency in Microsoft Office Programs
•  18 years or older with a valid Driver's License and work authorization in the United States.
•  Must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs
•  Ability to work outside in cold and hot conditions.
