Position Description:

The Hospitality & Sales Associate is responsible for providing gracious, knowledgeable, and friendly customer service to all guests that visit our Clif Family properties. This position will interact with Wine Club members, Fine Wine Tasting guests and Tasting Room guests. This position will support sales efforts to top clients outside of the Tasting Room experience via telephone and email sales outreach.

Position Responsibilities:

•  Assists with the daily operations of hospitality properties and retail store including but not limited to retail sales, inventory control, wine education, customer and hospitality relations/outreach, experiential programming, special events, opening and closing procedures, financial reconciliation & computer/POS interface.
•  Commits a minimum of 8 hours per week to outbound phone and relationship sales to top clients.
•  Provide a unique and engaging experience for our guests that promotes and builds brand loyalty, responsible for bringing “Clif” to life at all Hospitality properties.
•  Contribute along with your teammates in achieving daily, weekly, and monthly sales and wine-club acquisition goals.
•  Conducts Virtual Tasting experiences. Hosts guest virtually and completes follow-up communication necessary to acquire wine sales and club member acquisition.
•  Effectively and consistently educate and enroll guests in our wine club programs to include obtaining guest contact information and asking for/closing wine and retail sales.
•  Facilitate and administer all standard and private food and wine tasting experiences for walk-in, by appointment and large group clientele
•  Provide assistance to cycling patrons in recommending local rides and cycling experiences via our customized map.
•  Responsible for the daily aesthetics of the public areas and security of facility
•  Oversees opening and closing processes for Hospitality Properties in compliance with developed SOPs.
•  Follows company policies and procedures including Food Safety and Responsible Beverage service.
•  Responsible for making sure that all pour-outs are accounted for in POS at end of shift
•  Responsible for making sure that all shipping orders, thank you cards & wine club sign up forms are filled out properly at end of shift.
•  Responsible for writing and sharing “End of Day” email notes to team as directed.
•  Handles any customer issues or complaints as the customer calls or arrives to all Hospitality Properties in person. Passes along the customer issue to appropriate Manager.
•  Answer phones and assist with inquiries to include tasting appointment scheduling, phone sales and concierge services as needed for “day-of” queries.
•  Attend Quarterly Safety Meetings.
•  Attend Weekly, Monthly and Quarterly Staff and Education Meetings

Skills Required:

The ideal candidate will have:

•  Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.
•  Minimum two years’ experience in a hospitality setting, preferably in a winery tasting room and/or special events capacity.
•  Wine education/training preferred.
•  Passion and knowledge for food and wine industry.
•  Familiarity with wine and food pairings, wine making, American wines and Napa Valley wine industry a plus.
•  Strong customer service, hospitality and leadership skills (hard working, energetic, multi-tasking aficionado with keen eye for detail.
•  Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
•  Able to multi-task and work in a collaborative team environment with unparalleled PATIENCE and selfless commitment to the customer.
•  Computer proficiency: Word, Excel, Outlook, Internet Navigation (social media), Winery software (E-Cellars a plus).
•  Familiarity with the Napa Valley and its tourist/hospitality attractions (restaurants, hotels, wineries, points of interest, etc.)
•  Tasting and evaluation of wines required.
•  Must be comfortable working on feet for long periods of time.
•  Available to work weekends, holidays and as required for special events and activities.
•  Infectious personality with an enthusiasm and passion for life, wine, food and adventure
•  Self-starter with an ability to anticipate and pro-actively accomplish tasks
•  Barista experience a plus
•  Ability to lift 40-50 lbs. required
•  Employment is contingent upon participation and completion of a working interview
