Position Summary
Under the supervision of the Viticulture Director, the Grower Relations Representative is to assist in the growth and execution of a dynamic viticulture program, 300+ acres of estate premium wine grapes and fruit from 30-40 growers. Supporting the current vineyard and production team, this individual will assist in ensuring that Seghesio Family Vineyards and our numerous wine grape suppliers achieve and maintain the ideal quality expected from each AVA and vintage.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

•  Provide Production and Vineyard management teams with records of yield, quality, and plant status, climate data and cultural practices from all grape suppliers.
•  Administer and coordinate representative samples of vineyard fruit and promptly deliver to winery and analyze.
•  Prepare reports by collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data.
•  Responsible for maintaining the integrity of confidential materials and situations.
•  Assist with certification reporting and safety program.
•  Function as a liaison between winery and growers to include educating/advising on current market conditions, quality standards and viticulture practices.
•  Monitor the performance of growers and field conditions during the growing season by gathering data through observation and maintaining thorough records.
•  Monitors and reports grape phenology: bud break, bloom, lag phase, veraison and harvest dates.
•  Responsible for crop estimates during the growing season to forecast the current year’s wine grape supply.
•  Understand & contribute to basic business strategies for grape purchase and sales.
•  Develop a knowledge base of currently contracted vineyards and growers.
•  Work to resolve any issues that arise with growers in a professional manner.
•  Locate growers to provide adequate grape supply for future demands.
•  Understand grape prices and market trends.
•  Understand viticulture and its impact on wine quality.
•  Assist in the Management of harvest, scheduling, communication, and maturity.
•  Provides support in the vineyard as needed with assignments including but not limited to forklift, ATV and tractor work.
•  May be asked to host groups on or off-site and act as an ambassador of Seghesio Family Vineyards in any interactions with the public or within the wine industry.
•  Assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications
•  Education: Bachelor’s degree in Viticulture or related field.
•  Years of experience: Five or more years’ experience in similar role preferred.
•  Desire to become part of a team dedicated to crafting fine wines.
•  Familiarity with driving pickups and trailers is a plus.
•  Fluent in both English and Spanish is a requirement.
•  Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
•  Displays strong time management skills, consistently attending meetings and events on time.
•  Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; able to manage priorities and workflow.
•  Strong focus on detail.
•  Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
•  Willingness to travel long distances by vehicle independently, including early mornings and overnight stays.
•  Ability to operate an ATV safely on various terrains for extended periods.
•  Must be able to walk in both indoor and outdoor production environments, walk up and downhill on steep and uneven terrain. Extended walking, bending, and squatting required to obtain field samples.
•  Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time in 2-hour intervals.
•  Willing to work flexible hours, including weekends, holidays, and extended shifts during the harvest season, while demonstrating adaptability to various climatic conditions and inclement weather.
•  Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
•  Must have a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

The projected (base) pay range for this position is $75k to $80k per year in addition to annual bonus potential. This is the projected compensation for the position however the actual compensation offered may vary based on job-related factors such as (but not limited to) candidate qualifications, related experience and education, candidate work location and market data. Crimson Wine Group reserves the right to modify the pay range/rate at any time in the future.
