Position Purpose

Under close supervision, the Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining a clean dish area and cleaning all china, glass, cooking utensils, pots, pans and service ware. Occasionally may be responsible for food preparation.

Functional Responsibility

Essential Duties

•  Washes and cleans all china, glass, utensils, pots and pans using the dishwashing machine or by hand
•  Checks and ensures that each item washed has been washed thoroughly and no debris has been left behind
•  Maintains flexibility and attentiveness to any requests that the kitchen or front of the house may have as far as tools and/or supplies needed during service
•  Maintains all utensils and tools in their corresponding areas
•  Maintains the standards of washing, rising and disinfecting of the three sink compartment requirements per the CALCODE
•  Maintains a clean and orderly preparation area
•  Maintains a clean and orderly dish station, fully stocked and ready with all necessary tools and detergents
•  Cuts and prepares food as needed
•  Contributes to the execution of the prep list
•  Labels and dates each prepared item in an appropriate container or bag

Minimum Requirements

Education and Experience

•  High School diploma, GED equivalent, or equivalent experience
•  Prior kitchen experience preferred

Certificates and Licenses

•  CA Food Handlers Certification required
•  TIPS Certification or Certified within 90 days of employment

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

•  Basic English speaking and reading skills desired
•  Knowledge of safe food handling, preparation procedures, safe handling and precautionary procedures of chemicals, detergents and sanitizers
•  Ability to differentiate the proper application of tools and/or chemicals to all equipment

Working Conditions

•  General restaurant environment
•  Required to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment)
•  Indoor and outdoor environment with exposure to the elements/temperature variations
•  Work in close quarters or confined spaces
•  Exposure to varying levels of dust, chemicals, fumes, gases, and noisy equipment

California Pay Transparency Disclaimer: This is a Non-Exempt position. The pay range for this position is $16.43 to $25.69. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role. Actual placement within range will be contingent upon a number of factors, including but not limited to the candidate's qualifications, education, experience, internal equity and alignment with market data.
