OPENING:
We currently are seeking a regular full time Senior Tasting Room Associate for our Silver Oak, Alexander Valley location. This is a non-exempt, hourly role, eligible for company benefits including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k), vacation, etc.

The Senior Tasting Room Associate will host elevated seated tastings, promote the sale of wine and merchandise in the tasting room, and assist with hospitality special events. Tasting Room Senior Associates will be called upon to fill leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Tasting Room Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Tasting Room Associate
•  Promptly greets all visitors to the winery and pours wines for tasting.
•  Delivers a transformational experience for every customer, internal and external.
•  Presents and positions Silver Oak, Twomey and Timeless wines and merchandise to our customers.
•  Describes wines, winemaking techniques, and winery history of Silver Oak, Twomey and Timeless; answers visitor’s questions about wines.
•  Provides general tourist information to customers.
•  Conducts guided tours as needed.
•  Operates POS, handles credit card sales, treats customers in a courteous manner.
•  Follows company schedule for special promotions and sales and release of wines.
•  Monitors merchandise displays and overall appearance and cleanliness of retail area, including stocking of wine and retail items as needed.
•  Performs Daily and monthly inventory counts for wine and merchandise.
•  Capable of Opening and Closing duties related to the winery and tasting room.
•  May be asked to represent the brands at outside functions as needed.
•  Assists other departments and employees as needed.
•  Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
•  May be asked to work at other tasting room locations as needed.
•  Weekend and Holiday work is required.
•  Will set up and break down tastings throughout the day. Tasks includes movement of wine, bus tubs filled with glassware, and full glass racks from the dish room to the designated tasting areas.
•  General set up/breakdown requires associates to carry throughout the day:
•  4 wine bottles, plus a water bottle = 7 lbs.
•  Glass rack with stemware = ~15 lbs. when full of stemware.
•  Bus tub with stemware – anywhere from 8-12 lbs.

Manager on Duty
This position may be called upon to fill managerial duties in the absences of the Tasting Room Manager, or from time to time, when extra support is needed. This additional responsibility may require the ability to travel between the 4 tasting rooms as needed, when a Tasting Room Manager is in need of assistance or is absent. These duties may include, but are not limited to:
•  Opening the tasting room, locking up and alarming the tasting room and entire facility location.
•  Preparing cash deposit and submitting the closing paperwork to the proper contacts.
•  Communicating to the Retail Sales Manager or Tasting Room Manager if any problems or issues occur while supervising the tasting room.
•  Supporting the tasting room sales associates in the daily operations by helping with transactions, ensuring inventory levels of wine and merchandise are sufficient, and organizing the day’s events (tours, food pairings, private tastings, and events).
•  Supporting the needs of the events team when needed.
•  Ensuring that the tasting room vision and culture are re-enforced while supervising the tasting room.
•  Providing leadership by giving positive/constructive feedback to staff when needed.

QUALIFYING SKILLS:
•  At least two years of retail experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
•  Knowledge of wines and wine production preferred.
•  Commitment to excellence and high standards.
•  Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•  Excellent presentation skills.
•  Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
•  Ability to manage priorities and workflow.
•  Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeaner, according to company policy.
•  Computer literacy.
•  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
•  Excellent customer service skills.
•  Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages.
•  Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
•  Required to work on weekends and holidays.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to do the following:
•  Stand and walk for long periods of time.
•  Coordinate multiple tasks simultaneously.
•  Calculate amounts and figures.
•  Understand and respond to a diverse population.
•  Perform some repetitive motion activities.
•  Lift up to 40 lbs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
•  Work is mainly performed in a winery/cellar. The individual is occasionally exposed to cellar temperatures that are cool and fumes or airborne particles relative to normal cellar processes.
•  Work is often performed outdoors (vineyard tours and patio tastings).
•  Busy and distracting environment.
