The Lab Manager is responsible for managing the laboratory team at Migration-Carneros Winery and processes in all phases of wine production, supporting the quality assurance objectives of Duckhorn Wine Company in its mission to deliver the highest level of wine quality, safety, compliance, sustainability, efficiency, and service. The Lab Manager is a key member of the production team that will produce results that are driven by a conviction for continuous improvement and will be part of a unified wine production team.

What we will ask you to do:
•  Manages and supervises all lab functionalities under the direction of the winemaker, from harvest to bottle.
•  Develops, reviews, and updates lab SOPs and protocols for all required analysis.
•  Reviews current analytical equipment inventory to identify opportunities for improvements.
•  Recommends and manages equipment purchasing upon approval from leadership.
•  Orders lab supplies and approves invoices to appropriate payables account.
•  Manages lab budget, including assisting with CapEx expenditures.
•  Manages the documentation, calibration, and maintenance of lab equipment for the following analysis: sulfur, TA/pH, alcohol, dissolved oxygen, turbidity, microbiology, heat and cold stability tests and enzymatics (RS, ML, VA, YAN), and others as needed.
•  Ensures timely, organized analysis per SOP and upon request from internal customers.
•  Manages the process of lab analysis entry and tracking activities into good lab logbooks, Excel spreadsheets, and NAV database, with a high level of accuracy.
•  Assists in preparing wines for bottling, including blending, stabilization, fining, and filtration.
•  Works with winemakers to ensure wines are compliant and bottle ready.
•  Ensures timely and organized packaging testing and analysis of wine in bottle per SOP.
•  Collaborates with Winemaking and Bottling Operators – including start up analysis, sterility checks, micro plating, troubleshooting quality variances in bottling production.
•  Monitors QC in the lab and on the line to ensure winemaking specs and highest quality standards are maintained.

What you will need:
•  Bachelor's degree in Enology, other chemistry related field, or the equivalent in experience.
•  4-5 years of management wine lab/industry experience.
•  HACCP and FSMA experience preferable.
•  Microsoft Navision experience preferable.
•  Excellent computer skills – Excel and Word.
•  Strong organizational, problem solving, analytical and math skills.

•  The salary range for this position is $72,000 - $80,000 and is what we expect to pay for the role
