An Assistant Winemaker job in Paterson, Washington is available at Ste. Michelle Wine Estates (SMWE). In this role your knowledge and passion for wine will make a difference! As an Assistant Winemaker you will assist the production of premium wines for a variety of brands. You will organize and create work orders for all production activities, working closely with winemakers, the cellar manager and production supervisors. This job is full time and expected to work increased hours during harvest period.

Assistant Winemaker job responsibilities include:

•  Work closely with SMWE winemaking teams to assist in production of their wines at Columbia Crest.
•  Provide direction and technical assistance to the cellar manager and cellar leads.
•  Oversee barrel fermentation, ML fermentation, SO2, topping and racking out of barrel for blending.
•  Track and monitor all empty barrels.
•  Monitor micro-oxygenation and stirring of stave tanks.
•  Assist with tank workorders as directed by winemakers.
•  Participate in tastings as time permits.
•  Maintain various spreadsheets throughout the year to help ensure information and wine quality are continued.
•  Be familiar with all aspects of winemaking and be able to act on behalf of the winemaker.
•  Focus on production winemaking, visiting cellar, auditing process, and becoming an expert in your area.

Position Requirements:

•  Bachelor's degree in enology, food science or a related field preferred
•  5+ years of winery experience
•  Minimum Age requirement of 21 when working within winemaking
•  Must be familiar with all aspects of winemaking and sensory analysis
•  Must have strong organizational and supervisory skills
•  Ability to travel and occasionally work weekends and extended hours during peak production periods

Your Compensation:

$89,791 - $120,296/yr. based upon relevant experience.
