Hospitality Lead - Judd's Hill Winery

Job Description:

SUMMARY
We are seeking a DTC Hospitality Lead to join our small but mighty team. In this role, you will predominantly be stationed on our tasting terrace, engaging with guests, promoting and selling our wines and wine clubs, and actively expanding our mailing list. Additionally, you'll allocate approximately 30% of your time to back-office duties, including handling inbound inquiries, coordinating events, supporting club operations, and executing outbound sales initiatives. We believe sales come through service and, as such, we are focused on delivering exceptional experiences with each guest interaction. Professional sales skills are required, as is a strong desire to serve guests. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
•  Hosting members and their guests, VIPS, and all other visitors
•  Leading by example in selling wine, wine clubs, and growing the mailing list
•  Main point of contact for phone, web and club orders, and order issue resolution
•  Assisting with maintenance of wine club and mailing list databases
•  Contributes to a clean working environment and welcoming atmosphere for guests
•  Assists with Off-site events as needed, from inquiry to event execution
•  Knowledge and compliance of applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance
•  Required to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality
•  Pursues continued job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading trade publicationsion, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
•  High school diploma or GED
•  Bachelor’s degree plus 1 year of hospitality, restaurant, public relations, communications or sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; or 5 years of hospitality, restaurant, public relations, communications or sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
•  21 years of age with a valid driver’s license and clean DMV record
•  Sound knowledge of wines and wine-making. Wine and food pairing knowledge also helpful
•  Experience working directly for a winery, fine wine account, or distributor
•  Maintaining a professional demeanor that positively reflects on the company
•  Experience with operating a POS, Commerce 7 preferred
•  Required to work evenings, weekends, occasional holidays, and special events

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
•  Bachelor’s degree plus 3 years of hospitality, public relations, communications or sales experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
•  Certified Specialist of Wine or WSET Level 1.
•  Wine sales, public speaking, and/or marketing experience
•  Strong interest and passion for developing expertise in wine and food.
•  Computer skills to include intermediate MS Office Suite
•  Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
•  Skilled in solving practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited information exists.
•  Experience with performing work that is varied in nature, requiring frequent evaluation, originality or ingenuity.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

•  Must be able to lift 50 pounds and stand for extended periods
•  Operate a desktop computer with keyboard and mouse, employing repetitive arm and wrist motions
•  Manual dexterity sufficient to reach/handle items and work with the fingers
•  Specific vision abilities require close and distance vision
•  Sit and stand for long periods of time in indoor and outdoor spaces
•  Occasionally bend, stoop, reach, kneel, crouch or climb stairs

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment is loud at times.
Compensation: $24-$25/hr DOE, plus individual Wine Club bonus, team sales incentives (team, once we hit goal) CC tip line, AND event service charge share. Benefited Full Time. This salary represents what we reasonably expect to pay for this position. However, the actual pay rate will depend upon job-related factors such as qualifications, skills, experience,& education, etc.
