Job Summary:

To assist the Vineyard Director and Viticulturist in the day-to-day operations of a 104-acre certified organic vineyard including but not limited to field scouting, crew quality control, data collection and input, pest/disease monitoring, phenology tracking, pressure bomb samples and vineyard sensor management, soil sampling, timely record keeping, etc. This position will also assist the vineyard management team in ensuring a safe working environment by monitoring and managing the established safety program.
Essential Functions:
The following reflects management’s definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned. To perform this job successfully, an individual must have regular and reliable attendance and be able to satisfactorily perform each essential function from the list below.

Responsibilities:
•  Pest and disease monitoring
•  Phenology tracking
•  Crop estimates
•  Plant and tissue analysis
•  Beneficial insect release
•  Assist and manage CCOF organic certification
•  Assist with supervision of vineyard staff
•  Manage data collection and input including yield estimation, tissue and soils sampling, irrigation data collection (pressure bombs, shoot length monitoring, in-vineyard sensor monitoring and maintenance, weather data monitoring, weakly scouting and reports)
•  Assist with GIS mapping
•  Assist with Vineyard Safety Program. Ensure that all safety compliance requirements are met monthly
•  Participate in the Fire Prevention Program
•  Attend team meetings, educational seminars and training sessions.
•  Willing to work a flexible schedule with extended hours, including weekends as needed to ensure the Vineyard and Vineyard employees all operate in a profitable and ethical manner on behalf of Chappellet Vineyard
•  Contribute an energetic and positive attitude to the vineyard team, encourage teamwork and communication. Adopt the company’s values in terms of work ethic and quality goals
•  Represent Chappellet Vineyard and the Chappellet Family to the highest degree

Qualifications:
•  Education: BS or equivalent in viticulture or related field or equivalent general viticultural experience
•  Experience: one-three years’ experience in viticulture and or field scouting
•  Pest monitoring and identification experience
•  Knowledgeable in all aspects of field work including planting, training, pruning, suckering, canopy management, tying, leaf thinning, fruit thinning, hand harvest, and fundamental quality goals
•  Must be highly familiar with computers, including database management, spreadsheet, and word processing skills. GIS experience is preferred
•  Must be organized and self-motivated
•  Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
•  Strong attention to detail
•  Commitment to learning the latest tools, technologies, and techniques to stay at the forefront of viticultural education
•  Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities
•  Willingness to follow specific directions with precision
•  Commitment to focus on workplace safety for all crew members
•  Valid California Driver's license with clean record

Physical requirements listed below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions and key responsibilities of this position.
•  The ability to always work in a safe manner
•  The ability to walk, climb stairs, bend, lift, twist, push, pull, carry, grasp, reach and stoop as needed
•  Occasionally lift and carry items up to 50lbs
•  The ability to tolerate exposure to various weather conditions
•  Willingness to work long and irregular hours during peak periods or on various shifts including night work
•  Outdoors, exposed to changing weather conditions such as rain, wind, sun, hot, cold, fog, dust, etc.
