Job Description:

O'Shaughnessy Estate Winery in looking for an assistant vineyard manager. We are a small privately owned estate winery and vineyard farming ~120 acres in the Napa Valley on 5 unique sites. Applicant would work directly under our vineyard manager and team; applicant should be proficient in all vineyard operation from planting to picking.

Must have a driving record in Good Standing
Experience with hauling equipment, fruit, and trailers.
Experience with forklift operation in agricultural setting.
Frequent holding and grasping with the hands when loading and unloading equipment and chaining down equipment.
Degree in Viticulture or related field and/or equivalent combination of education and/or experience. 2-3 years’ related experience.

Responsibilities
Vineyards (5 different vineyards, totaling approximately 117 acres)
Manage 8-35 in-house employees daily.
Approximately 40 to 60+ hours per week in the late spring/early summer and during harvest
Help coordinate crop estimates.
Maintain accurate vineyard records on phenologic dates.
Maintain county pesticide use permitting and reporting.
Help plan and organize all ongoing labor and equipment activities according to company specs and priorities (spraying, pruning, suckering, irrigation, etc.)
CCOF and Fish Friendly Farming record keeping and certification.
Scout vineyards to stay ahead of pest and disease issues.
Order supplies (pesticides, fertilizers, fuel, safety equipment, etc.)
Manage all aspects of frost protection program.
Collaborate with vineyard crew to implement practices that improve efficiency, grape quality and increase yields.
Keep barns and work sites clean and organized.
Participate doing critical jobs yourself as time permits, for example:
•  Irrigating or repairing irrigation
•  Operating or repairing equipment
•  Cleaning areas, and other small projects
Manage all harvest activities including staging equipment (tractors, bins, lights), moving bathrooms, supervising crew, loading truck and hauling fruit.
Quality control during harvest (no leaves, rot, etc.)
Plan and organize to keep tractors moving efficiently.
Move or schedule moving equipment to job sites (before and/or after regular shift and Sundays, if necessary, in the spring or during harvest)
Manage and document maintenance schedule for all company vehicles, tractors, and motorized tools, including keeping equipment in proper working order, adjusting implements, and completing small repairs or managing outside mechanics.
Utilize vineyard crew to maintain winery landscaping.
Act as eyes and ears for manager to ensure vital information is communicated effectively.
Payroll and HR
Follow all OSHA and DPR safety and all other regulations.
Organize safety training for vineyard employees.
Create a culture of safety, including monitoring and constructively correcting unsafe practices.
