Chester County Operations | We Serve Joy!
Our Lab Tech 1 under general supervision, performs physical, microbiological and chemical analysis of alcoholic beverages, grapes, grape products, water, incoming materials, and other related materials required for quality control, winemaking, and environmental monitoring facilitating the production of winery products and evaluation of winery processes.
What You Will Do:
Supports microbiological analysis and preparation such as, sampling, monitoring of bottling lines for sanitation efficacy, media prep, sterilizing bottles, and saline bottle prep as directed.
Performs a broad range of analyses utilizing appropriate distillation, titrimetric, colorimetric and instrumental methods.
Operates equipment such as auto-titrators, refractometers, densitometers, gas chromatographs, infrared analyzers, and spectrophotometers.
Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the supervisor including, but not limited to, cleaning, recordkeeping and special projects.
Evaluates laboratory quality control data to determine acceptability and releases customer data as appropriate.
Performs laboratory instrument calibration and preventative maintenance as required.
Makes suggestions to improve laboratory practices.
Completes all initial and on-going quality and safety training in a timely manner
Perform all duties with an understanding of the lab's commitment to quality and customer service as outlined in the laboratory's ISO 17025-compliant quality management system
Looks for unexpected deviations in data indicating issues with operations. Works with team to troubleshoot and provide corrective action in product processing.
Follows response plan if samples are out of tolerance.
Supports method development activities in the laboratory.
Practices safe work habits and maintains work area and instrumentation in a clean and orderly state.
Pulls and/or receives samples, prioritizes tests, and reports results in a timely manner.
Logs samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) if required to maintain data traceability.
Prepares standard laboratory solutions as needed.
Enters test results into the laboratory information management system in a timely manner. Reports out data as required.
Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.
Required to be 21 years of age, if the position is based at our Lodi/Turner Road Vintner facilities.

What You Will Need:
Associates degree plus 1 year of laboratory support experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or Biochemistry OR High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus 4 years of laboratory support, manufacturing quality assurance.
Skilled in writing simple correspondence.
Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.
Required to maintain 3 shift availability (day, swing, and graveyard); required to work overtime when necessary; required to work weekends when necessary
Required to be at least 21 years of age.
Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
What Will Set You Apart:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or Biochemistry plus 2 years of chemistry/microbiology laboratory experience.
Skilled in the use of MS Word and Excel
Strong verbal, written, analytical and interpersonal skills.
Experience working in an ISO:17025 accredited laboratory
Experience reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
Skilled in applying concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
Skilled in interpreting a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
