Summary

Provides strategic leadership for business units, operations, sales, and other functional areas with strong data-based driven insights into brands, products, sales, operations, and technology research. Develops and implements insight and research programs that influence marketing, technology research, operations, and sales decisions. Scope of research issues includes, but not limited to, advertising and promotion effectiveness, test/lead market studies, pricing, consumer and technical research programs, quality assurance, lean six sigma projects, and chemometrics.

Essential Functions

•  Develops annual insight & research plan for single functional area to include Business Units, Sales, Operations, Winemaking, etc.
•  Designs, executes, analyzes, and interprets appropriate research and provides cohesive solutions to business issues in single functional area to include business units, sales, operations, winemaking, etc. leveraging insights from all sources of information, including consumer research, Winestyle and Product Guidance, consumer affairs, sales and marketing analysis, operations, and technical research programs.
•  Applies expertise with multiple statistical analysis methodologies such as segmentation, attribution analysis, regression based modeling, mixed modeling, choice modeling, SEM, etc.
•  Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
•  Identifies and recommends existing methods from the Consumer Packaged Goods industry that should be integrated into the Gallo business.
•  Participates in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams and works crossfunctionally to improve processes within organization.
•  Monitors and ensures achievement of goals, objectives, and timelines.
•  Acts as liaison with other departments, divisions and organizations.
•  Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.
•  Performs assigned tasks in support of the Sr. Director of Information Intelligence as required.

Minimum Qualifications

•  High school diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate.
•  Ph.D. in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data science, computer science, etc.) plus 2 years statistics, data analytics or market research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Master of Science Degree in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data sciences, computer science, etc.) plus 4 years of statistics, data analytics or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Bachelor of Science Degree in a quantitative discipline which includes advanced data analysis (e.g. statistics, applied mathematics, physics, quantitative psychology, predictive analytics, chemistry, engineering, finance/economics, data sciences, computer science, etc.) plus 6 years of statistics, data analytics or marketing research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
•  Advanced knowledge of programming language R.
•  Required to travel to company offices, sites, and/or meeting locations for onboarding, training, meetings, and events for development, department needs, and business delivery up to 5% of the time, with or without reasonable accommodation. This may be in addition to travel requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.
•  Required to be 18 years or older. This may be in addition to other age requirements, if applicable, as listed in this job description.

Preferred Qualifications

•  Ph.D. degree in Statistics plus 4 years statistics, data analytics, or market research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility; OR Masters Degree in Statistics plus 6 years statistics, data analytics or market research experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility.
•  Demonstrated project management skills.
•  Strong organizational skills, strong sense of curiosity, skilled in working collaboratively, and comfortable with ambiguity.
•  Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting common scientific and technical journals. Skilled in effectively presenting information to top management, public groups, and boards of directors.
•  Advanced skills in the use of MS Excel, MS Word and MS PowerPoint. Experience with using Statistical Analysis Software such as SAS or SPSS.
•  Programming experience using R, SQL, and/or Python.
•  Experience with database modeling.
•  Experience with Nielsen/IRI scanner data, website traffic data, and Direct to Consumer (DTC) CRM programs.
•  Expertise in data visualization techniques, including use of Tableau, MicroStrategy, or similar tools.
•  Experience with defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions. Experience with interpreting an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and dealing with several abstract and concrete variables.
•  Demonstrated leadership and influencing skills in a multi-functional business environment; experience with influencing both peers and superiors and leading team members to a common solution based on data.
•  Skilled in thinking strategically and translating into logical business applications.
