Tasting Room Manager - McMinnville, OR
Position Objective:
Ackley Brands is a family investment company based in Seattle that owns and operates premium wine brands throughout the Northwest managing over 400 vineyard acres. The portfolio features brands that exhibit the unique terroir and sense of place that Washington and Oregon’s wine regions are famous for. Ackley Brands is looking to add a Tasting Room Manager to its Direct-to-Consumer team to help manage a new urban tasting room in McMinnville, Oregon showcasing Montinore Estate and Landlines Estates. Montinore Estate is a national leader in Biodynamic viticulture and winemaking, with 40 years of farming experience in the Willamette Valley. Landlines Estates celebrates the nuanced character of each block, each clone, and each vintage from iconic vineyards. The ideal candidate has a passion for hospitality, an eye for detail, a love of all things wine, a can-do attitude and is an all-around team player.
Summary:
The Tasting Room Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations, sales growth, and customer experience of the new satellite tasting room in McMinnville. The candidate should have previous tasting room experience, be extremely detail-oriented, have an intuition for superior hospitality, and be an accountable self-starter who is able to work independently or with a team. It is a full-time position with a typical weekly schedule of Wednesday through Sunday. This position will predominately be located at the McMinnville tasting room but will be required to cross train and support the Forest Grove tasting room as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
• Increase wine sales, club membership, and customer data through engagement and service
• Support the NW Business Manager to facilitate day-to-day operations in our McMinnville tasting room
• Lead, train, and educate tasting room staff to achieve sales and club acquisition goals
• Ensure each shift is scheduled and running smoothly
• Provide an engaging and exceptional guest experience at all touch points in the tasting room
• Foster a positive and fun working environment
• A “people person” that enjoys interacting with customers and other employees
• Multitask with the ability to recognize and prioritize multiple needs and pivot as needed without sacrificing guest, team, company or personal goals
• Work with the NW Business Manager to create and execute promotions and special experiences
• Assist in event creation and assume lead role in event execution
• Plan, fulfill, and manage the stock of wines and other goods appropriately
• Maintain spaces, front and back of house, to always be clean and organized
• Help maintain the Wine Club through retention and new sign-ups
• Help to create, improve, and maintain all manuals, SOP’s and training materials
• Follow all state and federal alcohol laws while preventing guest intoxication
• Stay flexible and nimble in the creation of a new experience from an established brand
Job Qualifications:
• A minimum of 5 years of hospitality experience
• A love of wine and willingness to learn
• Previous experience in the wine industry a plus
• Strong leadership and communication skills, both verbal and written
• Able to work some nights, holidays and special events
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace, InDesign a bonus
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to frequently lift and carry at least 50 lbs repeatedly
