Description
This position serves as the leader of knowledge, education to the sales and management team on wine and core initiatives related to Hartley & Parker’s vast wine portfolio.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with senior leadership to set overall direction related to H&P’s wine portfolio
Develop and implement education modules and training programs with a focus on product knowledge and sales technique
Develop professional, productive partnership relationships with wineries and suppliers
Meet with and manage suppliers to collaborate on objectives, goals, strategies and review performance
Work side by side with managers and sales representatives to develop and enhance their ability to sell the H&P wine portfolio
Work in conjunction with Sales Director and Division Managers to ensure that each salesperson meets or exceeds all distribution and sales goals
Solicit suppliers with new products and identify new products to bring in to H & P’s wine portfolio
Review pricing and gross profit; work with Purchasing and analyze reports in order to maintain proper inventory levels
Work with Key Account Managers, District Managers and sales representatives on developing our portfolio and gaining market share for our wine business
Develop relationships with key wine centric customers both on and off premise
Active, knowledgeable participation in departmental and inter-departmental meetings
Complete other special projects or duties as required
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or related field; or equivalent education and experience
5-7 years of industry related sales experience within the wine distribution, working with sales teams and managing wine suppliers
Extensive wine knowledge is required; WSET Level 3 Award in wines is a plus
Confident, driven and dynamic professional
Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to recognize solid distribution opportunities
Valid state motor vehicle operator’s license and ability to obtain and maintain auto liability insurance in accordance with State laws
Goal oriented, focused, and assertive individual who needs little direction or supervision
Effective communication skills to present information, interpret and respond appropriately to different audiences
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail; team player
Strong relationship building skills to develop insight into customer needs, provide options and meet the customers and the company’s business needs
Ability to work flexible hours which include early morning, evenings, and/or weekends and ability to work overnight travel as required
Proficient at reviewing comparative sales data for analysis
Stay apprised of federal, state and local laws affecting the beverage/alcohol industry within account responsibility
Computer literacy a must with strong knowledge of Excel
Physical Demands
Physical demands with activity or condition for a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor)
Physical demands with activity which could include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 50lbs
