Job Description:

Selected AV System Engineer is a professional at producing, designing, and conducting audio-visual events, large and small, including hybrid virtual events. This position will be the lead role in the implementation of these events for Jackson Family Wines, to ensure flawless performance, exceed stakeholder's goals and expectations. A successful candidate will have the necessary technical background, experience, overall knowledge of audio and video staging technologies, lighting, basic set design, leadership skills, and experience needed to manage the cross-functional A/V event. The AV Engineer will lead the technical production, manage client relationships, and oversee planning and execution for events; often overseeing all aspects, along with hands-on technical performance and operations. For larger events this AV Engineer role may be part of a team responsible for a successful event.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Director IT Operations, the Audio-Visual Engineer is responsible for providing support to fully remote and hybrid events/meetings as needed. Events and hybrid meetings vary in size along with types of spaces. The AV Engineer will provide services to internal business meetings, consumer focused events, virtual wine tasting experiences, etc. For larger events where outsourcing is required, this person will be responsible for significant internal coordination/communication between internal stakeholders and external vendor, and involved at pre-production, production, and post-production activities. This position may require out of state travel for special events.

Requirements:
•  Must be comfortable communicating to large groups and at all levels of the organization to clarify requirements, direct logistic, and influence the flow of an event to ensure the highest level of success for a given event.
•  Capable of ensuring all technical components of a production are developed & executed flawlessly in keeping with the stakeholder/client's vision, budget requirements, timeline, and safety standards.
•  As AV lead engineer - leading by example, clearly setting expectations, communicating processes, setting goals, review for improvement, and offering support as necessary is essential
•  Play a key role in projects/events from conception through pre-production, onsite execution, and post-production.
•  Manage relationships, communicate at all levels including executives, technicians, celebrities - establishing trust & confidence in yours and team's capabilities.
•  Extensive knowledge of operating audio-visual equipment which includes but is not limited to audio, data, lighting, staging, video, etc.
•  Excellent technical knowledge of teleconferencing, presentation tools, PowerPoint, and other AV hardware and software, may include video switchers, audio boards, cameras, and lavalier mics.
•  Experience supporting and managing virtual meeting applications such as MS Teams, Cisco WebEx, Zoom, etc.
•  Experience with stand-alone and cloud-based video encoding solutions such as vMix, ffmpeg, Elemental, Haivision, etc.
•  In between shows and events, maybe called on to assist in other areas in the IT department.
•  Must be able to sit or stand for long periods of time.
•  Willingness to workdays, early mornings, nights, and weekends, as production or event may require.
•  Comfortably operate in pressure production setting while being the source of calm and direction for the team.
•  Demonstrate strength in being prepared, organized, and consistently engaged.
•  Perform multiple tasks concurrently and respond to emergency situations effectively.

Education and/or Experience:
•  Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering/audio-video or related field plus 5 years AV engineering experience; or 9 years equivalent experience.
•  Thorough working knowledge of AV concepts such as acoustics, lighting, aspect ratios, and font size versus distance, scan rates, video standards and transmission systems.
•  Knowledgeable of testing, analyses and corrective action on systems, networks, hardware and software in a Professional Audio/Video environment
•  CTS-D and/or CTS certification is preferred, but not required with the right experience.
•  Any other key manufacturer certifications are also a plus. (Ex: Crestron, BIAMP, QSC, Extron. Shure etc.).
•  Ability to speak effectively to small groups of employees, business partners and/or vendors.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend, reach with hands and arms, climb and balance. A significant amount of manual dexterity is required. The employee must be able to lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 75 pounds.

Pay Range:

$33.70 $42.66 $51.62 per hour
