Quintessa, located in Rutherford, is comprised of a total of 280 acres of which 160 acres are planted to the classic Bordeaux grape varieties in 26 vineyard blocks. We are look for interns to join our 2023 harvest team, who will be exposed to all aspects of harvest. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic, hardworking, and organized with a keen eye for detail.
Duties included, but are not limited to:
• Grape receiving, sorting, and processing
• Juice and wine rackings and transfers
• Inoculations and additions
• Cleaning and sanitation of all winery equipment
• Wine barrel maintenance, preparation, and filling
• Drain, digging and pressing
• Perform other duties as assigned
What you will be exposed to:
• Reb barrel ferments (~100 barrels)
• Concrete tanks for reds and whites
• Basket & bladder press
• Barrel work (filling, cleaning, stacking, rolling, etc.)
• Comparative tastings
• Tasting through fermenting lots
• Sanitation protocol
Qualifications:
• Experience: 1-2 years of experience recommended, but not required
• Good interpersonal skills, proven ability to communicate effectively and work well with others
• Ability to follow instructions and take direction
Working Conditions:
• Standing for long periods of time (8 hours or more)
• Must comply with all safety equipment requirements
• Exposed to machinery and forklifts
• Long and irregular hours during peak periods on various shifts
• Extensive walking and lifting of up to 50 pounds
