Summary

Huneeus Wines (HW) is looking for a hardworking, self-motivated individual to assist with all areas of Grower Relations. This role works closely with our winemaking teams and acts as a liaison between the winery and our grower partners. This role will require a very good sense of judgement, the ability to foster and grow relationships, be a fair and confident Huneeus representative and kindness.

We are a small passionate team that works with multiple wine grape varietals from grower owned vineyards in Napa, Sonoma, Lake, and Mendocino counties.

Essential Duties: The following reflects essential functions for this role but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

Assists the Grower Relations Manager with the following:

•  Develop and maintain good relationships with growers by establishing effective communication and trust to act as a liaison between growers and winery to achieve quality and cost objectives.
•  Makes regular visits to grower vineyards to assess grapevine phenology, overall vine health, viticultural task completion and yield observations. Maintain accurate and thorough record keeping of visits.
•  Initiate, update, and verify crop estimates of contracted vineyards.
•  Develop regional expertise of viticulture and current grape market trends in HW preferred appellations.
•  Contract Management and Negotiation. Alongside the Grower Relations Manager, seek out new vineyard locations to develop long-term grower relationships, and negotiate agreements according to quality and cost objectives. Maintain contract database and assist in contract administration.
•  Manage grower vineyard block map files and update as needed. Keep team members updated as changes are made.
•  Be able to manage changing priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
•  Lead Harvest maturity sampling for purchased vineyards. Responsible for hiring, training and daily communication to harvest maturity sampling staff. Develop daily/weekly sampling schedule and oversee processing of berry and cluster samples between multiple harvest delivery locations.
•  Assist in overseeing day to day harvest operations at grower vineyards and harvest logistics, as needed.
•  Maintain high level of communication with all HW team members.
•  Organize and participate in post-harvest quality evaluation tastings with growers and winemaking teams.


Qualifications

•  Team oriented with high level of integrity and yet comfortable working independently.
•  Viticulture degree or completion of comparable course of study.
•  2+ years of Grower Relations field vineyard experience
•  Strong communication, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
•  Thorough understanding of Microsoft Suite, especially Excel and comfortable using an ipad.
•  Strong organizational skills and excellent writing skills.


Physical requirements

•  Must have a valid Driver's License and a clean DMV record.
•  Ability to work a flexible schedule, such as early mornings/late nights, and weekends, to accommodate the needs of harvest operations.
•  Ability to climb stairs and lift 50 lbs.
•  Ability to stand and walk over rough, steep, and uneven terrain in hot and/or inclement weather.
•  Must be comfortable with driving long hours.

The base annual salary range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000. This position is eligible for an annual bonus and a robust benefits and total comp offering.
