The Houston Market Manager is an energetic, self-motivated, and creative individual with strong leadership capabilities, strong relationships on and off-premise, and a desire to drive sales & brand awareness. The Market Manager’s initiative will enhance the sales volume and merchandising impact in a geographical area of responsibility while maintaining good working relationships with distributors, retailers, consumers, and co-workers.
Sales Planning and Process, Business Strategy
o Achieve monthly sales and distribution targets
o Ensure sales processes are fully implemented and practiced by all
o Responsible for communicating brand strategy, standards, and prioritization to the distributor sales team including an appropriate focus with both on and off-premise business
o Execute the regional promotional plan
o Effective communication with departments including Sales, Finance, Marketing, and Operations
o Manage product launches, execution strategy, tracking, and measurement
In Market Activities and Relationship Development
o Participate and advise in business development matters, including sales calls, market blitzes, and provide in-market leadership to distributor sales teams
o Work directly with the key on and off-premise customers and maintain direct contact with key accounts within the region
o Foster and leverage strong personal relationships with all levels of distributor and account management including ownership
o Partner with and provide strategic recommendations to Marketing
Financial Administration and Analysis
o Provide market intelligence to leadership to perform profit analysis on programming (as applicable)
o Review and request point of sale as needed
o Provide leadership with forecasting and product allocation needs
o Develop and execute regional programming to drive incremental business
o Communicate competitive market changes and trends
Individual Development
o Network and identify outside talent for potential opportunities
o Succession Planning
o Participate in National Sales Meetings and other training initiatives, including leadership training, brand education, systems training, etc.
o 3-5 years of sales experience in the spirits industry
o Distributor experience
o 4-tier distribution model experience
o Previous relationship with Texas Class B Chains
o Effective communication and team-building skills
o Ability to influence and persuade others to manage the business effectively
o Proven record of accomplishment in a team performance setting
o Strong analytical skills including Microsoft Excel
o Microsoft Office Suite Experience
o Effective understanding of budgeting creation and management
o Valid driver's license
o Ability to lift to 25lbs regularly
o Ability to periodically travel and stay overnight as necessary
