Job Description:

Position Title: Winemaking Intern (2022-Summer 2023)
Department: Winemaking
Reports to: Head Winemaker
Supervises: N/A
Status: Temporary/Seasonal, Non-Exempt, Hourly
Date: November 16th, 2022


At Farm Collective, we are a group of passionate wine lovers on a mission to push the envelope and deliver world-class wines to our beloved customers. Our talented winemaking team produces wine for Tank Garage Winery and James Cole Winery. During the 2022 harvest season, we crushed over 40 different grape varieties and produced a vast range of wine styles (red, white, rosé, orange, sparkling, and natural wines).

It is very important that candidates be able to work effectively with a team and independently when necessary. The most suitable candidates are strong-minded individuals who are excited and to learn and/or grow their production skills and are capable of working long hours (often times for several consecutive days) while maintaining their enthusiasm and positivity.

This is a temporary position anticipated to commence in early to mid December and is anticipated to last approximately through Summer 2023.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Winery and equipment cleaning and sanitation.
General cellar work including sampling, racking, barreling down, topping, and bottling.
Uphold SOPs and adhere to safety standards at all times.
Maintain cellar cleanliness and organization.
In the absence of the Head Winemaker, Assistant Winemaker, and Cellar Worker, ensure that cellar operations continue without interruption and with a high degree of efficiency.
Filtration and preparation of the wines for bottling
Barrel work (cleaning and maintenance)
Perform other duties as assigned.

Able to climb a ladder on a regular basis.
Ability to lift at least 25 lbs
Have a valid California driver’s license, clean driving record, and be insurable.
Able to communicate clearly in English (spoken and written).
Able to read, understand and follow work and safety-based SOPs.
Have flexibility and willingness to work in changing environments.
Ability to work extended shifts
Passion, interest and/or excitement to learn about winemaking is essential.
Candidates must have or be able to obtain U.S. work eligibility
Candidates must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and able to provide proof of documentation.
