Job Description:

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager is a key role and is responsible for supervising and participating in all day to day operations in the tasting room. This includes personally building brand awareness and exceeding guest expectations by working directly with customers and through staff to enhance sales, service, and visitor experience. The Assistant Tasting Room Manager is also responsible for supporting the achievement of revenue and wine club growth goals.

Management/Leadership:
•  Supervise Tasting Room staff (and temporary personnel) in the day to day operations to ensure top customer service to all guests.
•  Manages all of the Tasting Room staff scheduling
•  Establish the tone of leadership and empowerment of the staff by creating a positive and respectful work environment, by leading through example, consistent with the
Portalupi Family values
•  Supervise and present the brand marketing image of the Tasting Room.

Staff Training:
•  Expert in reservation system (Tock) and POS (Wine Direct) . Includes training of staff on all the systems
•  Manage all of the required training of team and ensures adherence to all policies, procedures and governmental (TTB) regulations.
•  Ensure all staff members are educated and proficient (including temporary support) on the Portalupi brand, Portalupi portfolio of wines and Company history.
•  Educate team to promote the Club Membership program to increase sales. Meet Director goals for wine club membership acquisition. Work closely with Wine Club Manager
to train staff for upcoming wine club shipments and procedures.

Tasting Room
•  Take exceptional care of all Portalupi guests to create a memorable experience.
•  Maintain & continually develop overall tasting room experience, from atmosphere to customer interactions, ensuring that every visit is excellent and memorable.
•  Manage customer service Gmail daily
•  Manage Tock scheduling and awareness of daily scheduling

Inventory
•  Ensure wine inventory is maintained in tasting room to meet tasting and purchases for customers
•  Work with staff and ensure inventory requirements of wine, food and merchandise are met

Social Media/Outreach
•  Participate in Social Media posting keeping in check the Portalupi brand and business objectivews
•  Conduct Industry relationship building including outreach, invitations and tracking of effectiveness. Keep up with how Healdsburg’s landscape and businesses are trending.

Qualifications:
•  Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred or equivalent supervisory experience.
•  Experience: Three or more years of winery hospitality or retail management experience. Supervisory experience required.
•  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
•  Strong math and computer skills
•  Effective sales management skills with a proven record and innovative techniques for increasing revenue
•  Effective problem-solving skills
•  Strong professional customer service skills
•  Excellent organizational skills and the ability to follow through on projects with minimal supervision
•  Enthusiasm for wine in general and Portalupi culture and its products in particular

Working Conditions:
•  Salaried hours include regular working schedule to include weekends and holidays
•  Moderate to heavy physical work (moving wine cases and retail supplies, setting up for special events)
•  Standing for long periods of time (8 hours per day)
•  Ability to lift at least 40 pounds (case of wine)
