Job Description:

Job Summary:
Continuum Estate is focused on developing a single estate based luxury wine from Napa Valley that will be recognized as one of the finest wines in the world. In order to achieve this goal, the estate winery and other estate properties need to be maintained at the highest level and always showcased in a manner that is in keeping with a world class estate. This position provides a key role in ensuring that the winery and estate properties are properly held to that standard on a daily basis.

This person needs to have a high aesthetic standard, strong interest in performing janitorial functions on a day to day basis and be knowledgeable about cleaning, painting and overall general property and equipment upkeep. While a team orientation is important, the ability to understand the aesthetic desired and proceed independently with a hands on approach is critical.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Cleaning of All Winery and Estate Buildings and Equipment (75%): The key elements within this area include but are not limited to:

•  Cleaning of:
-Concrete floors, skylights and windows
-All internal and external winery plaster and concrete
-All hardscape areas around the winery
-Removing all cobwebs, unwanted insects and rodents
-All drains, filtration and HVAC systems
-All piping, hose stations and equipment connections
- Keep outside of tanks clean and dust free.
-Remove mineral spots from all stainless steel equipment and fixtures.
•  Painting/staining/waxing:
-Touch up throughout the buildings
-Handrails and other blackened catwalk stainless steel areas
-Wood catwalk stairs
-Buff and Polish outside of concrete tanks with Stone Sealer and Color enhancer
-Sand and touch-up paint on hoops on oak tanks, Touch up paint on all winery equipment.
•  General maintenance of all Estate bathrooms
•  Establish and maintain cleaning schedules for all areas with a sensitivity to hospitality schedules
•  Responsible for knowing the technical aspects of cleaning materials and their impact on surfaces to be cleaned.
•  All work needs to be completed with an eye toward a high aesthetic standard.
•  Make sure that all safety concerns are addressed.

2. Overall Winery Support (25%): The key activities within this area include:

•  Work with the cellar team to support harvest, crush and ferment activities.
•  Support Winery maintenance activities throughout the year.
•  Handle road piloting for winery and estate needs throughout the year.
•  Support Facilities Manager and Head Groundskeeper as needed throughout the year.
•  Handle miscellaneous winery pick up and deliveries
•  Remove garbage and recycling

Supervisory Responsibilities:

No direct full time supervision.

Job Requirements:

Education/Experience: Multiple years experience in a hands on janitorial position. General knowledge of winery or other similar industrial operations.

Skills: Hands-on style. Experience working in a family operation with a willingness to be flexible and accept a constant changing work environment. Ability to make decisions and take action when needed, yet have a team mentality. Very reliable.

Physical: Able to travel by car and operate vehicles. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight. Move over sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces. Move up and down ladders, stairs and/or service ramps. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Must be able to use hand tools, power tools and machinery. Work with chemicals that require protective equipment.

Other: Must have a valid California driver’s license. Must be insurable by the company.
