Job Description:

SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Lab Manager, this position is responsible for assisting with all daily fermentation tracking and general lab functions.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•  General tank and barrel sampling of juice and wine throughout harvest
•  Monitor barrel and tank fermentations by DMA
•  Sample, analyze and track juice/wine: alcohols, TA, pH, FSO2, CO2, DO, turbidity, % solids, buffer cap, micro QC
•  Assist in most lab functions in a timely manner
•  Timely and accurate data entry into lab logbooks, NAV and excel spreadsheets retained in company folders
•  Prepare solutions and maintain chemicals
•  Assist in calibrating and maintaining lab instrumentation
•  Assist in daily bottling lab QC report
•  Support cellar and bottling functions as needed
•  Maintain a clean working environment
•  Ensure safety at all times

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
•  Working towards a degree in Viticulture, Enology, Chemistry or equivalent in experience
•  Basic lab skills
•  Good communication skills – written and verbal
•  Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred
•  Ability to multi-task and good attention to detail
•  Must be a team player
•  Ability to work overtime and weekend work as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
•  Regularly required to talk and hear through other distracting noises
•  Stand, walk, bend, kneel and crouch; climb stairs and ladders
•  Sense of smell required
•  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
•  Ability to lift 50 lbs; ability to lift items above the head
•  Manual dexterity required to adjust small cellar fittings
