Responsibilities
• Maintain Quality Control Management of wine bulk inventory in barrels and tanks.
• Collect and analyze wine samples and provide results to the winemaking team. During harvest this will also involve grape sampling and analysis.
• Perform routine analysis including pH, TA, VA, Free and Total SO2, malic, residual sugar, Ethanol, Brix, NTU using a FOSS WineScan SO2.
• Maintain strong relationship with independent lab.
• Maintain detailed harvest and cellar records including TTB reporting requirements.
• Manage winery safety program and ensure safety program is implemented and followed.
• Arrange and participate in sensory analysis, blending, fining and quality control.
• Assist with work order generation, data entry and bulk wine management.
• Assist with cellar work, harvest, bottling and other tasks as needed.
• Provide informative tours and barrel tasting to select winery guests.
• Perform all other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
• BS Degree in Chemistry, Enology, Viticulture, or related studies preferred
• “Hands on” wine production experience.
• Must be organized and perform with a high degree of accuracy and possess strong attention to detail.
• Requires highly motivated individual who is able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
• Proficient in Bulk Wine Software, and Microsoft Office 360 Suite, specifically Excel
• During Harvest and bottling ability to work extended hours are required
• Knowledge of Spanish language helpful
• Forklift experience helpful.
• Have valid driver’s license and be able to drive large 4 Ton truck for winery related tasks, including bin delivery and pick up.
• Winemaking is physically demanding, and work is performed in a challenging condition, hot, cold, wet, dirty. Must be able to lift 50 lbs., climb ladders and stairs.
