Job Description:

Position Summary
The Assistant Vineyard Manager is responsible for implementation of viticulture and field operations as designed and assigned though our farming plan, specifically related to our mechanical operations. This role will coordinate and direct all mechanical activities in conjunction with hand work and irrigation schedules, identify and communicate issues in the vineyards, and make technical recommendations on potential process improvements. The Assistant Vineyard Manager will lead our mechanical operations team and is responsible for organization, development, and training of team members. The Assistant Vineyard Manager is expected to demonstrate exceptional leadership through modeling our company values and behaviors. Essential Functions
a. Extensive knowledge of vineyard equipment and usage for all seasons of the year; including but not limited to mechanical pruning, spraying, leafing, mowing, etc.
b. Coordinate and manage all spray programs, including work orders, intervals, material purchasing, and spay calendar communication with team, partners, and neighbors
c. Execute harvest schedule for all Livermore mechanically harvested fruit
d. Lead a culture of Health and Safety across the production department that strives beyond compliance and is proactive, embedded and understood
e. Drive leadership and people development within department through performance and talent management
f. Manage the department's key business performance metrics and targets through effective and appropriate measurement, reporting and ongoing analysis
g. Ensure we have engaged viticulture teams at all levels through effective recruitment and retention
h. Maintain a successful working relationship with FLC partners
i. Accurate and timely record keeping
j. Understand labor needs within the mechanical team and ensure people are trained and engaged, partner with manager to ensure coverage during peak and non-peak periods.
k. Comply with and actively ensure safety and quality working practices of yourself and all team members
l. Keep continuous improvement top of mind to ensure WFE is a cost effective, quality producer by constantly evaluating viticultural processes and
m. Implement property and machinery maintenance programs to maximize useful life of company assets

Physical Demands/Qualifications
a. Requires the ability to sit bend, stoop, twist and walk over uneven surfaces for prolonged periods of time.
b. Manual dexterity sufficient to use knives and a variety of hand tools without experiencing abnormal hand or wrist strain.
c. Ability to frequently lift up to 60 pounds.
d. Vision sufficient to layout straight lines in the vineyard and read labels on pesticides and other materials.
e. Ability to work out-of-doors in all types of weather conditions.
f. Eye-hand coordination sufficient to perform pruning and other precise functions on living vines.
g. Must be able to wear respirator.

Non-Physical Demands/Qualifications
Must be able to:
a. High School Diploma or equivalent
b. 4-6 years’ experience
c. Proficient with computers; Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint etc.
d. Obtain an appropriate driver’s license
e. Bilingual preferred
f. PAC or QAL certification preferred

Sustainability Values statement:
Supports environmental sustainability by controlling use of pesticides. Everything done in the vineyard is all in relation to the environment. First step is to purchase the safest and most environmental-friendly products. Properly find extra uses for our waste, such as recycling used water by filtering for watering. Impacts economical sustainability by reducing the amount and frequency of pesticides used. Avoids disturbing the natural habitat of the animals, by building bird boxes, etc.
