Job Description:

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

This is a hands-on position that will lead all aspects of finance including accounting, planning and analysis, treasury, compliance, and insurance. Ensure all financial and administrative responsibilities are performed correctly and on schedule. This includes the timely preparation and integrity of the financial and operating information and metrics. The position will also coordinate the preparation, identification, and delivery on short and long-range financial goals, and to accommodate the development of future strategic and based initiatives.

Essential Accountabilities:

•  Plan, oversee and provide general direction to ensure that finance and accounting goals and objectives are strategically established and aligned with the goals and needs. Ensure that the accounting and finance functions remain agile and flexible to be able to take on new initiatives, both large and small while simultaneously juggling multiple priorities.

•  Responsible for operational accounting, including cash management and reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cost accounting, fixed assets, intercompany transactions, accruals, and allocations. This position will maintain and enhance systems to produce timely and accurate financial statements, manage accounting processes and systems, ensure appropriate internal controls are in place. Prepare, identify and deliver on its short- and long-range goals, and to accommodate the development of future strategic and based initiatives.

•  Ensure successful and accurate production of monthly financial reports and system maintenance of accounting records. Oversee all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and regulatory requirements. Manage the month-end close process, including preparation of the close schedule, general ledger account reconciliations, and journal entries.

•  Fully understand and communicate research guidance to stay current with all pronouncements and GAAP. Effectively communicate the impact of new accounting pronouncements and develop appropriate strategies and tactics. Ensure that accounting processes and procedures adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, and prepare accounting memos for new business initiatives, where appropriate.

•  Direct the development and implementation of financial controls for operations including, but not limited to, policies, budgets, sales, cost standards, and capital investment and financing. Strengthen or develop internal controls to mitigate risk for reported results that comply with generally accepted accounting principles.

•  Develop a comprehensive understanding of various demand channel relationships and help to build out financial and accounting models. Lead the annual budget and financial forecast processes, ensuring all objectives and timelines are met.

•  Design and direct a strong system of financial analysis, measurement, and accounting controls to drive new areas for expected service and profitability results. Partner with the cross functional teams in all aspects of the business to interpret business information that enhances operating results and promotes financial sustainability to ensure continued success.

•  Direct all cost accounting functions. Coordinate cycle counts and physical inventory and ensure timely inventory reconciliations. Review and improve inventory costing methodologies. Prepare annual vintage costing as well as gross margin analysis by channel, customer, and product.

•  Provide Treasury leadership and direction to ensure cash reporting, forecasting and reconciliations are completed in a timely manner and in compliance with policy. Maintain KPI’s to track cash forecast vs. actual variance with goal to improve accuracy.

•  Drive efficiency and effectiveness by streamlining, standardizing, and automating financial transaction processing and reporting. Evaluate, recommend, and implement accounting policies, procedures, and systems, where appropriate. •  Play a key role in the planning and execution of system upgrades and enhancements, as well as integrations between information systems, including the POS system to the accounting system.

•  Interface with outside accountants and tax advisors to evaluate, maintain and improve the relationships and services. Lead, coordinate and support annual financial audit and insurance renewal activities, while communicating status to leadership. Assist COO with preparation of tax estimates.

•  Ensure that accounting processes and procedures adhere to generally accepted accounting principles, and prepare accounting memos for new business initiatives, where appropriate.


Knowledge, Experience, Skills:

•  Five years’ experience in a financial leadership position, preferably in the wine industry.
•  BA/BS in Finance or Accounting, MBA and/or CPA desired.
•  Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, Concur and Dropbox
