Director of Sales - Canada
This position requires a high level of competency in managing agency partners and sales initiatives with key liquor board and private on and off premise accounts. This position will cover all of Canada. This position is ideally based in a key market (e.g., Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver) and/or near an airport.

The Director of Sales is responsible for the development of existing and new account business for all WX national brands in Canada. The candidate will develop and implement an annual business plan with the VP of Business Development to achieve shipment and depletion targets with profitable margins by brand, SKU & province. The candidate must be willing to travel throughout Canada to manage our agency network and be responsible for executing programs.

Responsibilities:
-Execute the Canadian business plan by working closely with agency partners and key accounts
-Develop strong relationships with key partners, customers, and key industry players
-Achieve annual shipment, depletion and accounts sold goals by brand.
-Manage agency partners on strategic objectives for our brands.
-Manage pricing externally with customers and internally with finance team.
-Execute programming to achieve distribution objectives and margin standards.
-Implement promotional and merchandising campaigns & incentives to drive sales.
-Manage LTO budgets and accruals by SKU to maximize margin results
-Manage non-price marketing funds to maximize results while maintaining budget.
-Provide VP with accurate and timely information & reporting necessary to manage the business unit and improve on regional business plans.
-Establish strong sales presence within territory and conduct regular agency partner meetings to ensure brand priorities and initiatives are maintained in all provinces.
-Attend all key industry events (e.g., regional tastings and events in Canada, California Wine Institute events, Vancouver Wine Festival, Prowein)
-Travel to California for customer visits, sales team meetings, and company events
-Survey accounts and provide feedback on execution and competitive activity.
-Develop regular reporting for management on progress towards goals
-Develop and maintain forecasts for the market

Agent Management:
Manage all aspects of the partner agency relationship including:
-Volume (goals, creation of budget, negotiation, monitoring, review, course correction)
-Marketing calendars, non-price programming (e.g., seasonal POS), and price support budgets (e.g., LTO’s)
-Work with agents to develop submissions for tenders by liquor boards
-Work with agents to sell brands and SKUs into key private on- and off-premise accounts
-Work with agency partners to ensure liquor boards are managing inventory efficiently and maximizing distribution and sales
-Price structure management by market
-Maintain spending control vs. budget
-In-Market activities (survey, work-with, education training, events)
-Conduct quarterly business reviews with all partners

Requirements:
-Five+ years sales/marketing experience as a supplier within Canada including working with the major liquor boards (LCBO, SAQ, BCLDB)
-Extensive knowledge of the Canadian beverage alcohol market and the California wine category
-Ability to operate both at high level strategic/market level and also down at the detailed tactical level (e.g., spreadsheet analysis, developing presentations, etc.)
-Proven success in wine/adult beverage industry sales management
-Strong ability to influence others and close deals in a timely manner.
-Ability to recognize and solve problems that result in win-win outcomes.
-Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
-A high level of integrity and self-confidence with an excellent ability to build relationships.
-Be a strategic and creative thinker, with the ability to make good and sometimes difficult decisions.
-Highly organized and self-motivated.
-Possess effective industry relationships across provinces
-Strong sense of urgency and commitment to achieving results.
-Good judgment and professional maturity.
-Excellent problem-solving skills.
-Ability to work autonomously in fast paced and ever-changing environment, as well as be an active team member.
-Strong PC skills (Word, Excel and Power Point) and proficiency in analyzing industry data (EZ Focus, etc.).
-Bachelor’s degree or equivalent life experience.
-Clean driving record, vehicle and insurance required.
-Willing and able to travel frequently (50% of time) including overnight stays.
-Weekend and evening work as required.
-French language skills a plus
